Some fun ehhh? beating up cars that is!
6 weeks ago I was up late, 12:30 am, enjoying a hot, sweltering California evening..you know, having some nice cold ones..when I hear "WHAM, WHAM, WHAM" through the living room windows...I run outside and see two guys running in front of my house and down the road. I don't know what's going on so I run after them, barefooted. Well the road was pretty rocky and I'm pretty damn fast for an old man..so I sprint after the slower one and get a GOOD look at him. Run back to the house because my feet were getting beat and had my daughter throw me the phone. Called 911 while walking toward where I had the Firebird parked...well I wasn't exactly thrilled at what I found.
.
They nailed my neighbors Honda at exactly the same time and we met on the street. We met the cops..I gave them a description and we lamented about how the bastar*s were probably long gone and how stupid the little shi*ts are.
Well Johny Law calls me up and wants me to meet them about a block away. I walk over and low and behold 5 squad cars, lights blazing, radios blaring, have these little turds cuffed and leaning up against a squad car. I ID them and the officer explained that there were three of them including a lookout who lived in a house about a block from me.
They rolled over on each other and admitted everything. They didn't know me and I didn't know them. They just wanted to beat some cars up and picked ours because they were right next to each other on the street and they could whack them at the same time!!! One used a sledge hammer and the other used a baseball bat. Maybe it's a good thing I didn't catch them...If I'd known positively that they'd blasted my car I know I would have caught the slower one. He's 17, about 5'10", 130lbs...toothpick boy. Woulda face planted his pimply face into the asphalt...course then I woulda had to of dealt with the other two..both armed. Appears they had knives to pop the tires with...they confessed that If I hadn't of come out they would slit my Nittos. Maybe I'd even be in court for assaulting a minor...or my kids wouldn't have a dad....
The good part was the cops let me vent on these kids. I musta scared the crap outta them. Got to use my "punk as* bit*ch" line. Cops just kept workin' on their paperwork.
Two 17 year olds and one 18 year old. 18 year old just turned 18 the previous week. All charged with felony vandalism. I'm looking at $4500.00 in restitution and these guys are looking at parole and community service.
To top it off they were drinking beer and smoking dope...they should have been listening to some good tunes and woofing down 5 bags of Jack in the Box.

I do not understand why youth these days find that sort of crap "fun"....? What do they get out of it, aside from an adrenaline rush for a few minutes..? Karma will get them sooner or later. Sorry you have to deal with the unfortunate outcome...

I can just picture them hiding out with their little adrenaline rush...giggling..and feeling like real studs...that is until the light from the squad car lit'em up. I'll betcha they had a real funny sinking feeling in their little tummies. Do you believe they actually hid in the lookouts house and had to come out and take a peek at what was going on down the street. Did I mention I called them all retards? Yeah actually..retard was used quite a few times whe I had to refer to them.

That is crazy!! A few questions if you don't mind. What will the restitution do exactly? Are they then required by law to pay for the damages? And if so, how long do you have to wait?
You did the right thing not taking those idiots on. No matter how good of a fighter you are, you're not perfect and those f#ckh#*ds might have gotten a piece of you.
Too bad you didn't have your shoes with you as it is the best defense against a knife attack. Put a shoe on your left with your shirt or jacket wrapped around your left arm and beat the hell out of them with your right.
Please post some pics when you get er fixed

I hope you are going to make them pay for every cent of damage they have caused. While you are at it throw in the punitive damages as well (i.e. you having to deal with them, having to deal with broken car and your personal time that gets wasted as a result of this entire mess).
Everything is money and I would make sure they remember this 2 years from now when half of their paycheck still goes to you and the other guys on your street.

One 17 year old and one 18 year old have already agreed to pay....excuse me...I mean their parents have agreed to pay. The other 17 year old is a problem child from a broken home and he'll have to pay as part of his probation.
The $4500.00 bid was from the only company in town that would actually come out to my house and give a bid.
Since I didn't have comprehensive insurance...and I'm not fighting their insurance companies there won't be any "totalling" of the vehicle which would leave me with a few grand.
There is a hearing scheduled for the 4th of Oct for 2 of the punks and I plan on being there. They invited me into their lives and I want to point out how stupid that was. I mean think about it...they don't KNOW me. I could have been cleaning my AR-15 and drinking shots of Tequilla.
A friend of my brother's actually caught a guy once trying to rip off the stereo in his car. He dragged the guy into his apartment and terrorized him for hours. Police actually wanted to charge him with vigilantism.
I was soooooo glad the cops caught these guys. Believe it or not the police were in the area looking for some kids who were toilet papering houses. I guess this is kindof a quiet town!!!
On another note...one of the kids goes to my kids High School; plays varsity football, a lineman...every kid in school knows about what happened. Gee...I wonder if he'll still get to play ball? What a shining example!

That sucks man!Glad the were caught though. Some kids hit 2 of my trucks and some other cars on my street with eggs a few weeks ago and that made me mad, couldn't emagine having it smashed up though.Good not to mess with anybody at that time of night when you're by yourself, crackheads are really strong.I have been stabbed before,it's not bad, hurts when the Dr. numbs it though
Being hit in the head with a sledgehammer may have hurt though.

Keep us posted on the court outcome. We have had our IROC stolen before then keyed a few years later and never caught either one. I don't know if I am vicariously living through you but I am all at once saddened by what happened to your Formula and glad as hell you caught them. They had to be on something stronger than weed. Crystal Meth (Tweekers) are a plague in California these days.
Your brothers friend is lucky as you become the bad guy once the harm or potential harm has ended.
We keep ours locked up in the garage at night just for reasons like this.
Good luck in court on Tuesday.

Wow martyr. A sad story with a happy ending. And I'm glad they're paying to fix it! And that's awesome you got to yell at the kids
Although I woulda preferred grabbing a big stick playing baseball with their faces.
Hope everything works out okay, that looks like it was a beauty, it will be again!
On another note, where did you get stabbed steve?

My leg,It was some homeless drug addict friend of my bros.I was asking him if he knew where my bro was cause he ran away and then he turned and ran after me with the knife.I took him to the ground but he stuck the knife in my left leg.I proceded to punch the hell out of his face until he started convulsing and foming at the mouth. He had to go to the hospital for a few days and I had to get 14 stitches and was at home in about an hour.

Well one of the dads coughed up $1350.00 for his son's share of the fun. The other two punks still have thier final court date coming up so I won't see the full $4000 for a month or so.
Went down to the local auto dismantelers and checked out the pickings. Only a few firebirds and about 2 power bulge hoods. One was actually white and had the firechicken decal on the front with the 5.0 liter decal on the bulge. Sleeper..if I put that on????
The price......$30.00. I think I'll take it...
. The only thing I'd have to remove is the stuff that channelled the air down to the carb. Kind of a plastic funnel setup that goes to the "bulge"
We'll see if I can't get everything back together for a fraction of the estimate....hehehe

thats the seloneid (sp)you could sell thhat if you dont need it.
Glad to hear everything turned out alright.Same thing happend in my neighborhood a week ago.About 6 cars had broken windows and slashed tires on my street. Its weird because I usally park in the front and that night I parked in back and my sister parked her 06 eclipse in front. They took her gas cap
and thats it.I think they were affraid of the alarm because all the cars that were vandalized were 80s models or early 90s models.I have a feeling if my car was in front tires would be slashed and windows broken since i have no alarm and all.But why did they take my sisters gas cap

Yeah its probably in the bushes. Good thing you were in back. Taking a rear hatch glass out of the junk yard is no fun at all.

Actually, in regards to my car, I was wondering why they didn't smash the hatch first? That really would have been a mess.
Got the boneyard hood on without a hitch. I'm pleased. one minor ding..the kind where somebody leaves a bolt on the wheelwell inside of the engine compartment and tries to close the hood...and that was it. $30.00...imagine.... a good deal in this day and age..

Adult member of the trio who busted my car was started serving 30 days in jail on the 20th of January. What did he get for beating up a helpless car?
30 days in Jail
3 years probation
$400.00 fine
$4783.00 victim restitution ( Woe is me!)
No alchohol or drugs (of course) for 3 years or considered violation of probation.
No contact with me ( too bad.)
The other two juveniles received lighter, child like, punishment.
Oh yeah..this guys the one I referred to as "tooth-pick boy". His rap sheet listed him as 6' tall and 130lbs.
Well I might be parting out the bird. Too much money in parts to sell it whole and not enough time to put into it. The kids want me to put a tarp over it and store it. Tough choice!

What is the damage exactly? Must be more than a tweaked hood and smashed windshield? Looks just like my old '89 Formula 350- made me sad.

Well I sold the bird to my son. I'm still getting $75.00 a month from the 18 year old...gee I guess he must be 19 by now. So in effect, I received $1350.00 from one parent and the 18 year old is paying me $4750.00 ( might take forever but oh well.). The last punk hasn't even coughed up so much as an apology. I might have to make that a new years resolution. I have a memory like an elephant. Especially when it comes to low life little shi*ts that want to mess with what's mine. AND THERE ARE PLENTY OF THOSE OUT THERE! One day I'm going to be in the right place at the right time and get to work out some frustration. Pitty the little sacks of crap that set me off!

No matter how you slice it it is no fun being a victim of a crime. One yearns to have the perpetrator(s) understand that.

Cool! Guys, let me know if you ever see a car that looks like this in the Sac area. I was the original owner of a white '89 Formula 350, black cloth interior. It was in mint condition when I sold it back in '96 to a guy in south Sac.

I "WAS" going to get it painted in a couple more paydays, but this is going to set me back.
I mean, if someone has a problem with me, say it to my face. I am not a big guy or anything, but I will stand up for myself even if I get my *** handed to me. I really dont apreciate people messing with my property that I spend soo much time working on and cleaning.
I mean I work at BK and it really does suck and I work hard for my money. This is now going to set me back about a month as I go to school full time and can only work part time.
Pics will be up in about an hour or so.

Re: Some fun ehhh?
As much as I hate to hear that car got smashed again, f******g punks, at the very least it did not happen AFTER you got fresh paint on her. I just don't get the appeal of doing things like this, I would never dream of defacing someone else's car. I know I would want nothing short of blood if someone messed with mine. Sorry to hear about your loss man, I know how it feels to have to work hard for every little thing you have. Makes something like this a lot more personal. Just remember to try salvage yards first, they can save you a TON of money.
