WTB: A bird with TPI
i need a bird with a TPI, any condition is okay as long as its in good running condition and is smogged and all that.
i was going to buy 87tpi car but that fell thorugh so now i need a car, and i have cash but dont want anyone whos thinking of maybe selling there car and then flaking out on the sale, let me know i need one within the next week if possible, just let me know what you have, bad paint is fine since i can take care of that alot easier than anything else, thanks.

I'll sell you my 91 Formula with TPI (sorta) and a T56. Supercharged. Bad paint. Smog might be a problem though.

It has a Holley Stealthram, so that's why I said 'sorta' TPI. No EGR (have stock intake in a box specifically for smog tests), no smog pump (I do have it in a box as well though), headers don't have a CARB EO number but could be plumbed for emissions. It has test pipes right now but I welded the exhaust with flanges and I do have cats to bolt into place. The heads, supercharger, and throttle body have EO #'s, if that helps.
Oh and the ECM that is in it now won't actually run the emissions equipment. The Borla exhaust probably exceeds CA noise pollution laws but I have an SLP TOTL rear section that bolts on and is much quieter..
I don't really want to sell it, and I don't suspect anyone would give me the $10k or so that I'd want for it anyway. If you have that kind of cash to blow on a 3rdgen let me know.

No disrespect but....
do yourself a faver and save some more money. when you have about $6000 then start looking for for your bird. just from talking to you and how your posting you seem to eager to buy, and someone will get over on you and you may end up with something needing more money then you thought.
I do hope you find you dream car, but remember you get what you pay for.
good luck with the search

yes i know what you mean and money is also tied up in the car i have right now i ahve gotten good offers on it, and know i can get 3000 out of it, its just my daily driver and dont want to sell it and have to drive a POS for a month just to find the right car. and if i cant find on ein the next week or two, then i will forget about it till the winter becuaswe after school starts i will have no time at all to do anything with the car but drive it no matter what conditon it is. i ws set on getting the car form 87tpi but that fell through and i was banking on that, i could just find a car and go with it but i cant really find one around sac, and like i said i could get a car but i also need to repaint my car again ( i have put scatches in it) then i will sell it and can do it for any color they want, you still want to sell yours? if not i gues i am just SOL.

I must've missed that thread.
What'd you do/get for the GTA Terrell?
How come you couldn't get 87tpi's T/A kool? Not for sale?
Are you really trying to sell for 10K Jeremy?
I'll be stopping by your shop soon to get an estimate kool.
Do you work Mondays?

first, i wanted 87tpi's TA alot and needed the car within the next week but from his PM's it sounded like he would only come when he wanted to, so since i had no time to go all the way to carson and i kept trying to get him to come down at least half way, he called it off and said he was keeping the car, whick left me saying ****.
the only days i dont work is usually mondays and saturdays , so i am there tuesday thorugh friday this week.

He kept asking me to take out the system and lower the price and he wanted me to drive 2 cars down to him so he could test drive it, I wasn't going to waste the gas for him to change his mind. It just got to be too much of a hassle for a car I don't need to sell. I hope he finds what he is looking for, his firebird is ready to die on him so...

kool i highly doubt you will get 3K for that firebird, with a broken center console, broken oil pan, no muffler, and a clutch that needs replacement.
my suggestion to you is fix the small stuff that you can, and sell that v6, and sell the motor/trans, than try to buy a bird with a tpi you need to have the cash ready and a decent ammount atleast 3K for something that doesnt need too much work. in winter time the prices of 3rd gens will drop so i would take your time cameron,
steve id hate to see your bird go all she really needs is some paint and you know how to do that. i know a place where you can rent a paint booth if your concerned about that.
and jeremy why are you givin up on your beast did you loose interest? or what is wrong with her ill drive up there and give you a hand lol

Not like there is a shortage of 3rd gens, I'm sure you'll find one.
Tues-Fri huh. I'll see what I can do. Maybe next week.
I think Jeremy's situation is more of a I'll put the price up real high to where nobody will really offer it, but if some miracle offer came in, he'd sell it.
Only an excellent/mint condition or a meticulously mod'd 3rd gen in nice condition would get such a price IMO.
No doubt that '91 Formy is super fast as it stands, and the blower does add some $ to it, but it would have to be painted and have any minor issues resolved before seriously netting 8k+ I think.

Eric, I am keeping it. Let me know the info on a booth, the only reason I haven't painted it yet is I have nowhere to do it. Thanks.

first, 87tpi, i already told you that i was 99.99999999999999% going to buy your car barring there was something big you didn't tell me. i have bought and sold a good amount of cars and have run in with people who will do everything just so you say that you'll buy and than hold it agianst you even though its a POS. its called covering your bases, and i knew that you didn't want to waste that much gas for me to say no, but many people will tell you all the great stuff and leave out something they didn't think was big like "theres little knock in the engine" or "doesn't pass smog" or other crap like that.
second, porky, all i need is a used center console in my car everyhting is ther ad fine i took it out cuz the old one was worn really bad. the clutch is good just worn stil has plenty of life in it. dont know where you got no muffler from, and the oil pan has a scatch in it and i just need to put a coper gasket on, but i still dont trust bringing it out to jackson because in the past two months it will die on me at any point then run fine for nest week or two, then randomly die again, so around town it okay but 130 miles is not a smart thing to do.
i want a car that i can do paint and body work but not have to mess with it mechanically until i am ready, and want to do it before school so that i cant work on my current bird over the little time that i will have during the season, thats why if i cant find one now i will just wait until winter.

alot of times, the car that you want is quite a drive. You can't expect the seller to drive hours away and just to show it to you. I don't care if you tell me that you are 100% sure you are buying it because you can always say "I don't like it, I thought it was blah, blah, blah, and so on". I almost drove to Washington just to look at a car and possibly buy it at the spot but realize I can't afford it at that time. I might still go there though if the car is still available in 4 months or so. Thread Starter

word up, thanks terrell. no offense but i have seen both of those cars for the past two months on there, more recently the 89 GTA, and the guy is willing to come to where i am to sell it to me and for 2200. the 88 gta, the owner sounds real shady and engine has a knock not to mention that needs rims, stereo and a muffler, and both are a minimum of an hour and a half drive, no way i could make it out there, but like i said the guy with the 89 is willing to bring it to me. i have found a 90 trans am in modesto but if i go down ans buy it i cant getit back up here, i have seen pics and is clean with an lb9, only problem is that it has oklahoma plates and a few months of back registration, which leaves me wondering if it will pass smog in cali especially since she told me that in oklahoma there is no smog so i dont know if there is even a pump or a cat, but dont really know at all, other than that its a nice car and a steal.

I drove to L.A. and back in 1 day to get my 99 4runner just to test drive it. I have taken previous cars to people just to have them change their mind because "something came up" or I'm actually looking for something else.

yeah i actually somewhat agree with you but if you can talk someone into doing it its great, and since i dont ahve the time to drive 2 hours and back, i need to find one in sac or surrounding areas. if i could believe me i would, but now i am baking on finding someone who will drive an hour or two to sell it, and i have had someone do it before so i know there must be somebady who would do it again.

that would really suck. I don't think I would ever drive a car I was selling so someone could "LOOK" at it. they would have to give me some kind of deposit and gas money for the round trip

the thing that really got me was i thought you were really just yanking my chain to see if you cuold get what you asked for it, i have had that before and thats what really sets me off, you have it for sell then you decide to keep it, but i guess its cool.

Well i sold my 89 tpi to steve. Eventhought he was like 75% sure of buying my car, he still had an effort of driving over 200 miles to test drive the car. The car was in great condition except the paint which was my fault
Well that effort payed off and he drove off with it the same day. koolctk, i understand what u coming from of driving far for something u might not buy, but hey u do have to make an effort of travelling distances in order to get something u wanted. When I was searching for my trans am, it took me almost 2 months to find one. I've travelled to sacramento, dublin, vallejo, tracy, etc. I ended up driving to daly city (45 min) and bought it from there

The equivalent to Eric's automotive secretary position, but at a paint/body shop, haha.
I was reading your paint options over there Cam, is the Acrylic Urethane the best bang for the buck job? Looks to be around $900. eesh.
What setup could I get for 300-400 that you mentioned before?

89blackGTA = Brian.
I don't think any of us know him.
He's asking 4k, not bad, only 60K miles.
Needs a bit of work, but a great platform!

yes we have metalic paint and mica and all that stuff if you want it.
are cheapest paint job is 299 and isn't that bad for what you pay, as long as your existing paint isn't really bad than it wont go much higher than that, but doesn't include any body work either, our 900 paint job or the 500 paint job is the best bang for buck but we have a special for our 900 which 699, thats a really good bang for buck.
