Out with the old in with the new(almost)
started to change the starter today. after some adjustments I think its in just right. I didn't get to finish, had to get a new(longer) battery cable and some wire. I need to extend the wires because they don't bolt in the same spot on the new jegs starter.
the stock starter was smaller than most I've seen

That stock starter is really small.
Mine was long and about 20lbs.
Is this for the IROC?
I got this Powermaster from Summit for $155.
180 ft-lbs of torque and good for 12:1 compression.
What're the JEGS stats?
My wires were not quite long enough either as they stood, but were re-routable to extend them and make it work.

The starter is smaller because it is for a manual transmission.
I had a brand new AC Delco for that hot rod but that's in Big Ron's Big Bird right now because it is too fat and for a crapomatic. I was glad he could find the stocker, but hey who needs a starter when you have a stick
I have that same starter and it rocks! Forget the Hitachi, it's not worth the asking price, you're going to like it

the stock lt1 starter is pretty small, way smaller than a stock L98 one, it's strange.

Hitachi starter ftw, that thing fits much better than the gear reduction starter I had before.

Looks like that thing got hot and melted off that connector. It was a real tight fit in there with those stock manifolds.
At least you can wire those more out of the way now and make them a bit longer.
On a sad note I can't come up today, but on a happy note I found the stock distributor for your C.C.C.!

finished up the starter today and I can say it started right up with out any problems.
this was the "fix" for the wiring. I just extended the wires and bolted them some what out of the way.

this will work for now but I will clean it up when I go to put the CCC stuff back on
