New toy!

Well, I got my intake off today to fix the oil leak on the rear china wall and I found that the dr side runners were dented and there was fuel sitting inside the plenum/runners, I think the previous owner had the fuel pressure set too high. Do you think that the #24 injectors are overkill? The intake was absolutly filthy and looked nasty. A couple of the bolts for the runners are kinda hard to get to also. I decided, what the hell, it's off and I don't want to pay to have it cleaned so I may as well go buy a new one. I FINALLY got my HSR and it'll be back on tomorrow. You don't really realize how long the tpi runners till you see them next to something else. So I'm going to get my Fuel pressure set right so I don't ruin these cats. I know now why the catcos he just put on 6 months ago are fried. Now, with the mods in the sig, what are the estimates for the track? I'm hoping to hit at best a high 13. It'll most likely be a low/mid 14 but atleast I'll be out of the 15's, FINALLY!

maybe you should get a mail order prom, yes I know its alot better too do it yourself and that you dont have a done of mods that the MAF cant compute for, from talking to Del about his 24 pounders he said that he ran way rich after the install, they are only 200 shipped done specifically for your car and it would help with your new intake, just my two cents,

Cameron

My car is sd so I don't have a maf. I want to get with somebody and have it data logged and maybe tweaked a little. I might Order some 22's but I will eventually put in a cam and heads and then I'll need new ones again.

I'll post more tomorrow. I'm going to finish it up after work. I bought the braided fuel line, an adapters, and compression fittings for the fuel lines and I got the rails with the adjustable regulator, and a swivel 90* thermostat housing, I got my cutoff tool ready to do some surgery on my hood so it should go fairly easy.

That HSR looks cool. Just like a tunnel ram but with EFI. That should work really good. Can't wait to see it in person.

It doesn't fit under the firebird hood without trimming the braceing. It's fine on camaros though. This intake should give the exhaust a bit more bark too. Now I have a respectable thirdgen and I am so excited about having this thing on the road. This thing is going to have much bite than the t/a. I won't feel any torque loss from the hsr because I'm used to the lb9 and this 350 wasn't running right. It was running good but it was way out of tune. I'll get a vid when it's back together.

HSR looks great Steve.

The stock computer can handle the 24# just fine, but that's the max.
My tune before the injector swap was far from stock, so of course dropping the 24's in made it super rich.
I'll have it dialed in by spring.

Plans for headers? My guess is a mid-low 14 for your Formula.

Cool, I'll keep the 24's then. I will be getting headers but that'll have to wait for a bit, I'm in no big hurry. The way I see it is the N10 option adds just as much as a set of headers on a single cat car would so it kinda evens itself out, maybe I'm wrong. I'm pretty much done for now except for the tires I have to pick up this week. When I sell the Subaru I might buy a couple more things but we'll see.

The N10 supposedly added 10hp.
Pipes were nicer, no crimps, etc.
Plenty of time later to add more parts, don't need to do it all at once.
Sounds like you're off to a good start to hit the track.

Yeah, I'm not worried about adding more parts now. I have enough to hold me over for awhile. I spent $1,600 in the last 2 days on new parts and I still have to buy 2 new tires so, I'm good for now. I still have to have the other stuff welded too. I am still just amazed at how clean this car is and how good of a deal I got. I'm much happier with this car than I was with the t/a. After taking my aftermarket parts off of the t/a (except for the headers) I realized that I wasn't really into the car anymore. It was a great and reliable car but this one is a MUCH better platform.

Yeah, there's no comparison, you definitely stepped it up in 3rd gen class.

I'm going to take back the "Blue Thunder" name and reserve it for my new one, haha.

Before Vin gave my GTA the "Silver Bullet" name, I liked Greased Lightning.
So now I'll have thunder & lightning.

Haha, could you really call it blue "thunder" right now? Kinda reminds me of Mick on Rocky, " ya gonna eat lightning and ya gonna crap thunder". I can't even think of a name for the formula yet.

Haha, that's why I said "reserve" it.

Rocky is exactly what I think of too! That's one of my fav lines from it.

Yeah That's one of my favorite lines too. Did you go see Rocky Baboa in the theater? I thought it was a great movie.

Definitely, I'm a big fan, have the box set.

They ended it well, which they needed to do after the #5 debacle.

Keep the 24's. You'll probably need to lower the fuel pressure into the 30's (don't worry about the misconception that it will mess up your injector spray pattern) or get a tune for it to run optimally. Those are good injectors and will support anything you do to the car short of a large dry nitrous kit or heavy internal mods IMO.

I kept thinking that you had the 89 still, so since you have SD then you would really want to get a chip with a different style intake and your bigger injectors.

Ok, all I have left is to Connect the fuel lines to the rail and regulator, and buy a new upper radiator hose as the tpi one is too short. I should be firing it up tomorrow. I'm picking up a set of fabricated aluminum valve covers and a new throttle body to match.

I removed the sound deadener started cutting away the bracing but I have to finish it up. I am thinking of going with a sleek 2" cowl hood though. That will be down the road.

Got it fired up today after pulling it back off to fix the gaskets, I couldn't get the middle bolts in. The Summit swivel water neck that I used leaks so I had to order the Mr. Gasket one. Other than that it runs great, I haven't driven it yet cause of the outlet but it idles great, no more oil leak and no fuel leaks. I'm going to take it for a spin as soon as the new outlet comes in on Tuesday and I'll get a video.

Here is a small crappy vid I took with my camera, nevermind the cats banging around. It was a cold startup so it's idleing a little high. The Check engine light never even came on.

The beautiful lookin' Magnaflow exhaust on the ground will top it off nicely.

Here's wher I had to cut the bracing on the hood.

It still hits the the intake tube a little but closes fine.

Took it for a spin tonight and man, it pulls quite a bit harder to 5,500 now when before it ran out at 4,500. I'm sure these clogged cats are holding it back some too but they will be replaced tomorrow. I checked the fuel pressure and it's at 42psi. It is a bitch to get to the adjustment screw so I am thinking of leaving it. Should I try to play around with it?
