The HELL with this place

Hey guys i was just wondering if any of you guys have had this problem. When my car reaches 220 degrees i notice after i park that i have a few drops of oil on my garage floor. The leak seams to be coming from in between the oil pan and the tranny. I has wondering if im running to hot because my fan doesn't kick on until i reach 220 so i though that the oil might be thinning out do to the temp and seeping from the rear main seal??? So what temps do you guys run under normal driving?

180-200 degrees under normal driving. Fans come on at 220 as well. No oil leaks tho. Chill out!

Re: Got a problem guys!!

A simple bump with a "hey look at me" reply would have been more sufficient.

You've received an infraction for the above post that I cleaned up, but I'll be a nice guy and keep this open for other responses.

Usually the secondary fan, if you have dual, comes on around that temperature, probably a single as well.
Your stock thermostat is 195*, so normal driving is typically around 200* and then will then creep up to ~220-230* if hot and idling.

Re: Got a problem guys!!

Your leak is one of two things, your rear main or oil pan gasket, neither are fun to change.

220* is normal for a stock application.

Which is too hot for me, much like your head in post #2.

Re: Got a problem guys!!

Forgot to mention I have a 180* thermo and my fans on earlier via fan switch/tune, so I don't see temps over 190*.

For the oil pan, you just lift the engine up a couple of inches.

Re: Got a problem guys!!

My engine does the same thing. For me, it warms up and softens the old valve cover gaskets just enough to leak down the back of the engine and pools along the oil filter. I havn't changed them as I'm working on getting my IROC ready to drop in it's new ZZ3 & 3/4's powerplant. (should take about one more year at this rate.....) Nitro

Re: Got a problem guys!!

Have you checked ur valve covers? Mine would leak out the back when the engine was warm. It ran down the back of the block and dripped on my cat which made my car smoke like crazy.
