Impala TPI update

Seems this is where I am going to need some help.* Anyone interested in helping me get this thing fired up?* 350 Roller, slilght cam, 700R4, ram horn exhaust (I know Eric, I'm giving up horse power, maybe I'll go with headers once it's all working OK.)* If so, give me a hollar.* I need to get a chip burned and make sure all the electrical is hooked up correctly.

Sweet. Looks like another thirdgen powered ride. Heres an old shot of my '54 with the TPI in for mock up. I'll try and get my own thread when I get it all assembled with paint. I'm sure that Rocklin Automotive could get it dialed in for you. Are you running an o2 sensor. I think that you get more accurate tunning that way. Just my .02

Re: Impala TPI update

Very nice 54 install.* I'd love to see progress pics on that one.*

Prob not going to take the Impala to Mark and Bennie, they get the 91 vert. The Impala is something I really want to try and finish with the help of my friends. Once its running it will go there for the tune-up etc.

Yes, running an O2 sensor, heated actually due to the long headers I had on it before the son wrecked it.

I'm up for any advice or direction if anyone cares to go there.

Re: Impala TPI update

So how does it run right now with the stock ECM? Where did the ECM come from, 305 or 350?

Re: Impala TPI update

The motor before this one was a 305 with a TH 350 and I had a guy make my harness and burn the chip. This is a new motor that I built with a bit of help and I haven't started it yet, just a few more things to do. Before this impala I hadn't done any real wrenching since 1980 or so. I've learned a ton, but there is so much I don't know (especially compared to the peeps in here), that's why I really want to try and get it started and not just hand it over to a shop to do. Chip burning, however, is way over my head.

Re: Impala TPI update

Are you handy with a laptop? Check out Craig Moates website. He has some cool stuff for sale that you can burn your own chip with as well as run diagnostics on your TPI car. i bought one as I knew I'd be running TPI in my IROC as well as all other pre smog projects from here on. I really like the look of the TPI set up. I'm sure there's an easier way, but TPI is what I've chosen.

Re: Impala TPI update

Thanks Daniel, I'll check out that website.

Good news for today is that I installed the shortened drive line, it fit perfectly, got most all the wiring done (I hope), got spark, filled all fluids and no leaks, and looks like I'm pretty close to a bit of a roar. The fuel pump isn't priming so I've got some work to do there, but should be soon!

Here is a question for someone. Does the 700R4 have more than one style of four wire plugs? Seems I can't get this one to seat. Because the tranny is in and I'm doing it from my back I can't really see, but it looks to match up size wise.
