Ok so i have many questions. I know i am new but i just discovered this site. Ive had a 3rd gen for I think 8 years now? I bought my first camaro for $300, and i picked up another this week. I am new to this area, but would like to get in a camaro group here.
Do you guys have a club set up?
Do you have shirts and hats etc?
Do you have a centralized Loc for meeting that everyone can reach?
I am all about helping contribute to the cause. I think it would benefit everyone if the drive to's were close to everyone. I usually dont work weekends, maybe once a month or so. I think if everyone sat down and officialized things then there would be more attendance.
Socal is a gimme. They have Hannah Montana camaro club im sure. I see that there are alot of members for Nor Cal but no real organizers. I hate to step on shoes or anything so ill let you Senior's fill in. But i will put money down for shirts or something. Im sure someone knows a screenprinter. Maybe even Vinyl decals.
You get a good set up and word around im sure you will get more followers...just food for thought.

Re: NorCalThirdgen
well...lets set one up then. I know i am not the only one throwin beers back tonight. Im sure budgets are pre-determined. Im not married "yet"...shes trying, nor do i have kids.
BUT.
Maybe we can get all that started. I know there is a guy in one of the tech forums that was making gauge cluster inserts before he caned it. He may be able to make vinyls. We can get a list of who is where and find a good central Loc for meets. Maybe steal a calender and write on it.
Not sure, but if i will help the best i can. After this 12 pack tho. priorities.
Maybe we can get everyone interested to post on here and take the loc's.
Im sure i can find a screen printer. Just find someone good at drawing. No stupid cheeseball shirts please.

Very top posting: NEW! ThirdGen.Org T-Shirts! *NEW AND IMPROVED DESIGN*
I'll be wearing my shirt(s) at the GTG on the 11th. Nothing specific in mass quantity for NorCalTGO. I look forward to meeting you at Mel's.
Add your name here (2nd sticky at top): Third Gen Email List - Want to be contacted for future get-togethers/meets? (

Easier said than done...
My advice would be READ THIS and actually show up at a few meets already set up like the 11th.
New members are always trying to set up their own car club when they hop in here, and when nobody knows you, it's hard to do.

Re: NorCalThirdgen
I wouldn't mind seeing a little Nor-Cal specific gear myself. There is a local printing company around here that can do shirts, hats, and even vinyl decals (I have used them for the vinyl decals personally), and I know they do quality work for fair prices. They do a lot of the printing for groups around here and other areas as well. If there was enough interest I would be willing to do a lot of the foot work to see it through.
I realize not many here know me as I havent attended any meets yet, but I will. I am just seperated from a majority of this group by 5000+ ft passes, and have a relatively new job where time off is hard to get and my days off and hours change monthly. I know proof is in the actions, but I am commited(sp?) and would like to see this whole group get more solid.

Yes i read everything before i posted. I know whats going on. Im not trying to start my "own" car club. I am trying to light a fire under you "Senior Members" asses to start one. I apologize in advance for me not having a meeting place or a shop myself. I work in a hospital and live in an apartment. But if you think you broke something (arm, leg, hand, etc.) I can hook you up and find out. Like i said i just got here.
I read about the t-shirts. I know they are tgo shirts. If you are in a club, you figure you would wear "club specific" apparel to attract more members e.g. the vinyl stickers and hats. Id love to rock a hat. Where you could still wear the tgo shirt if you were hell bound and determined.
Organization is a killer, but when you figure it out the more success you will have. Im sure small buisness owners here will agree. This means more than forum posting for attendance.
Im down with the buddy buddy get together thing, but if you want to have way better meets. It would probably be better have more than 4 cams show up. Gives you more of a selection of things you can do, and what you can rent. You get a good enough one i am sure you could get local sponsors and get discounts on crap. I know your autozone/kragen hookups kind of a big deal, but hey who knows.
Like i said not trying to step on toes or be a DBag. I just read alot of damn threads about your attempts on starting a club and failing. Hopefully i can put the last nail in the coffin.
Oh, and my names Chris. Im a combat FMF corpsman(Medic) working as a liscensed Xray/Ctscan tech. I am orig from oklahoma and have been to the sand box for a year(including a run with the marines in lebanon back in july 06), and about to go back in about 8 months to afghan or iraq. I have a ton of medical experience and i am a Cert. Airframe Mechanic. Now you know me.

we had a couple good meets and some lame ones too. If you organize well, with things to do(other than sitting around BS'ing) people will show.
we tried the "club" thing couple years back, even had a little website.

I think our problem is we don't have that many members up here and obviously plans change and people back out when having to drive that far. I would love to make weekly/monthly meets but can't drive the 200 mile round trip that often. If we had more members like Socal, we would have bigger turnouts. I AM keeping the Formula and WILL be getting it on the road this winter so I WILL be making it to Sac more often.

Re: NorCalThirdgen
No need to light a fire is what my point is, my *** and car have always been in gear.
Every year or so we get a few newbies on here with the whole "lets start a club" deal, that never works out, sorry for bringing you harsh realities.
As stated if it is organized well and advance notice given it can be a good meet, unfortunately most are not. Also most NorCal members are spread out pretty far, hell Steve's in NV.
Still don't
You could post your whole life story on here since birth and I would'nt.

Re: NorCalThirdgen
I actually do have a life, thank you!
Sure it would be nice to have a solid group, I remember the website that tanked, I've been to plenty of meets, blah blah blah.
Whether it actually pans out is another story. What you did back home is different from out here.
Been there done that bought the t-shirt went to the reunion.

Let's get over where we've been and focus on moving forward.
I appreciate the enthusiasm Chris, hope you have more of it coming.
Don't worry about toe stepping, this is an open forum, if you have an idea, bring it out and make it work.
The bigger planned events do have a way of falling short, sometimes, but that's just due to lack of organization and follow through.
The meet at Marc's shop was successful, as him and Bennie were determined to make it so.
Look at Travis' basic meet at Mel's coming up. Sometimes a spontaneous throw together works out good, but of course I understand that's a long haul just to b.s. with some folks and grub.
Anyways, by no means does this hobby occupy a large part of my time, but if/when I can help, I'll try my best.
Keep up the positive outlook and ideas.
Let's just keep it at that and look forward to a fruitful year of 3rd gens in '09.

I would be down for a club and I am sure my buddy would be also. A monthly meet would be great. It is about 1.5 hour drive for me, so once a month would be great.
I do plan on being at Mels, unless my car decides it doesn't want to go and breaks down.

Re: NorCalThirdgen
Tell me where you want me to start and i will get this going. IMO i think it would be badass to see a **** ton of 3rd gens rolling through towns and down highways in one massive group. Destroying the ozone layer in big chunks. You KNOW it is badass to see the huge groups of bikers rolling down the highway. If you do not roll down your window when they drive by....then you my friend have issues.
Drink more beer imo. You might see the lighter side of things.

Start with a decal for the rear window. Ill pick up a small simple NorCal Thirdgen in a cool font if you make them. Then after that work to shirts, then hats. I am sure my buddy would go for that also.

Re: NorCalThirdgen
But imo its more then show. I think you gotta find whos willing to go when and where. Maybe get in on some charity work and such. Nothing would be cooler then to roll to a Habitat for Humanity or Special Olympics gig with all the damn 3rds lining the streets. That **** makes newspapers. Newspapers makes more members. More members makes less smog laws.
Then cruise to someones house. Tear back some brewsky's n crash. Drive home when you sober up.
Especially for you military guys that are serious about making rank. That looks good on your evals, and you get to have fun. I can give a rats *** because im on my way out. But something to think about. Ill do the legwork for it, but i will need support.
Everyone wins. Everyone gets beer.

Haha... Im not even 18 yet. Beer? Out of the question for me. Like I said in the other thread. I am down for a meet once a month. I feel that once a week is too much and would get old.

Well there you have it.
Somebody hold my hand. You throw the
phrase around for your lack of imagination. I must have hit a nerve there. Sounds like you have issues with alcohol and you won't be hard to spot at any GTG.

Re: NorCalThirdgen
I have plenty of imagination. I just need ideas and to know what people would like to do. Some people just want to drag and others cruise, etc. The idea is to get a general consensus on what everyone would go for.
So whatever problem you have pm me your # ill give you a call and we can discuss. But ill be dammed if you are going to bash me for trying. You didn't hit a nerve. I just don't like negative people who do nothing but complain. Clubs are not supposed to be like a dictatorship. Its for getting together and having a good time. Do i like to drink? yes, But i am responsible about it. Like i said earlier, i just want to find people with common interests to get together more often.
I am not going to prove to you anything. Take it as you will. It's not a one person ordeal. It affects many people.
and the only reason i put
in there is because i think its funny

Well i was pricing online...and it was like 1000 vinyls for 140 bucks. I mean i will ask around for shops to make them. I would like one for the Hatchglass. I think a white would look good. Spec since it will be tinted soon.

Re: NorCalThirdgen
I should be drinking to get through some of these silly posts.
Let's see some more positive responses to these ideas and less push back.
I don't know the first thing about decals, hats, shirts, etc., but I think if we could ever get a regular monthly meeting going, we can go from there as far as roles and responsibilities.
I'll plan to be at the meet next Sunday in Folsom and maybe we can use that as a barometer of interest for doing it regularly, where and all these other ideas that Chris has brought up.
1,000 may be overshooting interest levels, haha.
I'll pass on hatchglass, but I wouldn't mind something small and tasteful for my ride to represent.

Word.
I definitely need to find more time for rest/relaxation & 3rd gens, haha.
I've been working 2 1/2 jobs lately and just got home from #2.
I'm thinking moderator of this jungle gym counts for 1/2 a job too, so make that 3 total.

you better collect $$ in advance. I remember Alex(adambros) made some decals in a number of colors and not many people bought them. people said they wanted winshield banners, he made some and I was they only one to buy one. I still have a winshield banner and a supersize decal some where.

Re: NorCalThirdgen
you better collect $$ in advance. I remember Alex(adambros) made some decals in a number of colors and not many people bought them. people said they wanted winshield banners, he made some and I was they only one to buy one. I still have a winshield banner and a supersize decal some where.

We have bi-montly meetings, and bi-monthly cruises or other events such as drag racing, dyno days, and parties.
We used to have decals and t-shirts, too.

I always love when people like you tell other people what they need to do. Why don't YOU get this going! Personally, I think your just trying to increase the # of posts you have.
