This past weekend I ran the car at Redding Drag Strip and while waiting to get through tech, the first pair went down the track. This is what happened. As for the cops being there, someone must have called 911 or something since the announcer said later not to call 911.

I'm asking because I don't know.....
Is it standard procedure to have cops come out to the track when there's a wreck? I notice at the end of the video someone is taking measurements with one of those traffic accident rolling sticks.

Driver is going to be ok, bit his tongue and hurt his hands a little is all I heard. The police thing is NOT normal at all. Someone probably called 911 and said some car crashed at the street races. This was street legal night at the drag strip, anyone can come out and play.

Thanks EvilCartman. I read that 911 was called and the announcer said later not to call 911, but wasn't sure about if cops had to come out or not. That's good to hear about the driver. His car looks like a death trap if it flips over.Originally Posted by EvilCartman

I didn't have a real good look at the car 'cause the hotdogs were burning but, the driver's side rear wheel was bent up. The front tube on the passenger side above the valve cover in the pic was really thin walled too. It was like they took the jaws of life to it and just snipped it clean off but it broke off on impact.

A "deathtrap" would have resulted in a death, instead he walked away. I dont know about Redding, but at events in Sac, there are Medics/Ambulances at every return road.Originally Posted by webeeZ28

Redding hires an ambulance for their events plus has the track crew. The ambulance is parked on the side of the return road at the finish line where there's an access point to drive onto the track. I've seen crashes there before, the cops and extra emergency vehicles have never shown up till this time.

i have a question, i havent been to the track much or know much about it, but curious. If someone loses control and crashes into the other guys car, does the guy who lost control get the bill or do they pay for their own cars? im sure insurance doesnt cover a car getting crashed into at a track. and this guy messed up the impact absorbers on the track so is he in debt with them or how does that work?
Probably depends on if the driver is a nice guy or not. One guy might help with the bills while another one would say get stuffed or another would just not take any help at all.
