I don't usually buy GM High Tech Performance mag unless it has some 3rd gen content and I am so glad I grabbed the August issue last month.

Pretty decent article on the LS1 swap process that was done by Hawks to a customer's 1989 Formula. Much more detailed swap info is available on our boards here, but the story was cool and I especially liked the emphasized quote.

Definitely got me motivated to keep my '88 V6 Firebird for now and I will re-evaluate next year swapping this lovely LS1/4L60e sitting in my garage.

Pick it up if you can, or you can at least read the end of the article attached. I know a lot of us get torn from time-to-time on selling our rides so I thought you may find some benefit in this.

How's this for saving an old vehicle? Going out to the shop in a bit to start work on the replacement quarter panel.

 

The only way my Camaro is gone is if I had to choose between it and my Dodge Charger. I don't think ya'll can hate on me if I chose my 68 over my 89. Haha. No plans to get rid of either ever.

Yep same here. Too much money rapped into mine to sell it... All it needs now is to rebuild short block, rear end, and paint. Haha, these things are never done and are a huge money pit.

 

Thanks buddy. It's not worth beans at this point, so I can safely say this 2nd go around, I won't have a ton into the V6 project. I bought it back for only $500 and the "luck" of the draw with my LS1 wreck will help keep costs down.

That's not the reason I would keep a car though.

I knew going into my GTA that I would spend many times over what it was worth and it's not something I even think about anymore.

Like having a kid I suppose, you just keep investing, keep molding and rebuilding them up because they are a part of you.
