Flowmaster?

What's everyone's opinions/knowledge on the Flowmaster Headers and cat-back systems? Reason I'm asking is because my local auto parts store said right now all they can get ahold of (besides Borla) is the Flowmaster stuff, which would run me $112.95 for a pair of headers, and $452.95 for the cat-back system. Is this a good price and is the Flowmaster system worth it? I know it seems like everyone has Flowmaster but Borla is so much more expensive.. My boss has a Borla cat-back system in his 98 T/A and he paid about $1,300.00 for it. Haha that's the only modification he's made to it and he didn't even know what it was when he bought it.

Better find out how much the Y pipe is too, or you could have a big gap in the ex sys.

Well I told the guy I have the Y pipe thing on there and asked if the flowmaster system is a true dual exhaust or if it has the p.o.s. Y pipe and he said he's pretty sure it's dual exhaust but not positive.. That's the one thing I hate about our cars is that damn Y pipe.

I never knew Flowmaster made headers.

I guess I'll have to check out their webpage. $112.95 is a good price for headers, unless they're 1 1/2" primaries, then that's the norm.

Do any of these prices unclude installation? The reason I ask is, although the price of the headers is good, the price for the cat-back seems awfully high.

Now time to go to the website. See ya.

I have a flowmaster for sale if your interested. It's just a muffler, not a whole catback system. I will sell it for cheap.

No this is an auto parts store not an exhaust shop. But, they're honest, have good products, and local. Keep money in the community. I've given them enough business to put the owner's son through college with all the tools and stuff my dad and I have bought there. Thus those prices aren't going to be exactly "the same" for me I can buy 10 dollar items for 5 there. They are known for being a little pricey in their more expensive items (engines, major parts and products) but the quality is there. Not like Autozone where ya got a bunch of idiots with computer systems.

Flowmaster Cat-back

Whats up everyone... new to the board and I just wanted to throw in my 2 cents about the exhaust scenario. I just did a complete system on my 88 Formula from the Hooker Comp shorties ($140), Heddman mendrel bent y-pipe ($100 -which i had to modify greatly to make work), Walker cat ($130), and Flowmaster Force II Cat-back ($230). The cat back is the norm. single 3" inlet to a single 3" outlet & hidden tail pipe. Sounds nice when you jump on it with a quiet but throaty idle. Great value in my opion.

You'd think they'd know a little more about Flowmaster then. Not that Flowmaster lists EVERYTHING on their website, but they don't show any headers AT ALL. Plus, I've NEVER heard of Flowmaster headers. Maybe they sell all the pipes and what not to MAKE a set yourself, but as far as I know, they don't make any headers.

Maybe the shop you deal with meant to say Flowtech? Or maybe they did say Flowtech and YOU got the name mixed up?

Who knows.... but if you can show that Flowmaster makes headers, please do show us how to read more about them.

Well, it's a possibility but I'm sure he said flowmaster... He might have meant flowtech though. They don't deal a whole lot in performance stuff they've got limited resources on that kind of stuff. As for your usual stuff they can get it, so I wouldn't expect them to know a WHOLE lot about performance parts in the first place.

I just found out for sure today that Flowmaster does make headers. My friend owns an 87 IROC-Z and he just received his Flowmaster headers yesterday. I didn't get specifics on them (size and all that) but they do make them. I guess they just came out a few months ago, that's what he said anyways. I don't think it's a coincidence that an auto parts store and a completely different person would both tell me that Flowmaster makes headers. Go ask an exhaust shop or auto parts store if you want to find out for yourself.
