Theft Again

I was really happy yesterday because i was finally taking my 91 bird to the tranny shop to get fixed. So, i drop the car yesterday morning, and today when i get home from work i had a voicemail message from hobart police and somebody stole my GTA wheels off the car last night....of course this two months after my house got broke into...2008 is a cursed year for me or something...If anyone's got some GTA wheels or some crap wheels i could buy or use to get it back to valpo let me know!

thanks AJ

Re: Theft Again

I agree, talk to the manager/owner and get there insurance company involved, you already have a police report so they have to be responsible.Stay cool and don't give up.

Re: Theft Again

Wheel locks are a joke. You can get most of them off just as quick as a regular lug if you know what to do. I have a set of locking lug removers at the shop for when customers loose their lug key which happens all the damn time. They make it a snap and anyone out stealing wheels could get a set easy.

Re: Theft Again

Like it's been said already....Theft at THEIR shop is THEIR responsibility. Get their insurance involved. Possible employee? Or was the car left outside overnight? How did the thief know the car would be there? Stolen on the first night? Or several days after being there?

Re: Theft Again

you don't go through YOUR insurance, that will raise YOUR Rates, the shop is responsible for it all. Man up and tell him like it is....his shop, his insurance, his responsibility for ALL cars on the lot. Don't wuss out, be firm when talking to him about replacement.

Re: Theft Again

Stolen the first night? Inside job.

I'd be VERY direct with them, and possibly go as far as filing a police report to get them to investigate theft.

Re: Theft Again

And if you have receipts for the tires (or proof of which tires are on the car) make them get you the exact tires you had, or better yet, make them buy some really nice tires.

You should inquire to see about what else was stolen from the shop. If they shop won't own up they are in big trouble. Its been said a dozen times, their shop, their responsibility. Even if its stored outside.

Yea but seening as it's better then stright lug nuts at less there a chance they don't have a key to the lock. All you'd need with out the lock is a lug wrench. Very few would go to a store to purches a lock when so many cars don't have them.
