Did you have a hard time getting it to crank up or has it started to warm up a little bit? Nice wheels, btw

Re: Defrosting the turkey after the deep-freeze

It was about 7° according to my Focus. The car cranked over like it was summer.

I tried Wednesday before it got super cold in -16° weather and that was definitely unhappy. It did crank and fire. However it I didn't react fast enough and it stalled out. And then the battery didn't have enough juice to crank it over. If I had a battery warmer I'm sure it would have fired up again and I could have kept it going.

But it is a 11:1 compression fairly large cammed engine running on a very rich mixture.

However Normally I wouldn't have tried to start it, but I hadn't been sure if the mix in the car was 50/50 anti-freeze or 45/55....40/60 etc. So I had been concerned that the coolant might freeze. I ended up just praying it wouldn't freeze and damage the car. Seems okay. Don't know if it froze or if the coolant stayed liquid even on the -26° day because I couldn't get the hood latch to pop.

Normally this is how it fires up.

Why in the world did that beautiful thing sit outside in the polar vortex?
