Hey everyone,

I was thinking the other nite, it's goin to be hard to get a group shot with all these cars right?

Anyone ever been on a helicopter ride?? Wonder how much it would be, to send one of us up with a nice camera and who is good at takin photos. To get some nice aerial shot. I think that would be bad azz, and with everyone chipping in, couldn't be too much. Or even maybe check into hiring a professional photographer for just like an hour.

Just something to think about, what does everyone think?

there are a few professional pohotography services tha tuse digital cameras and interested parties can preview and get pics developed within a few mins of having the shot taken. soemoen like that woudl be a good plan of action to get a group shot and see how many peopel want copies of it as well as individual pics of cars at teh meet. guys liek that will usually show up for free and just try to sell their services.
there is a guy who showed up to a bunch fo the north jersey scca autocrosses at e-town this season that has a business liek that. he seemed liek a nice guy and he got some really good shots. i will see if i can find his contact info for ya.

a pro photographer would be pretty damn expensive, i could talk to one of my friends who is really good with her camera, i also have no idea about a helicopter but i'm bettin that would be pretty damn expensive also. are you charging a cover? like 5 or 10 bucks to get in to the party?? just curious

I'd be interested if it can be done for a reasonable price. Then all we have to do is agree on what's "reasonable".

I think the main idea is BYOB for the campsite, food and beer.
there is no idea how many people are going, I'd say bring your own stuff cook it at your camp site and hang out with the neighbors around you. easyest that way.
I went to a BMW biker rally and it was small as far as bike rallys go, only a few hundred people, say 200-250 anyway they had a pro barbeque truck pull up and serve food for $5 a plate. that is a possiblity....

I second that idea !!

Hey Mark, Heres an idea for you:
Call the news media and let them know what is going on, give them ALL the info and dates(when 100% set) and we can have coverage far better than any of us can do, and we just might be able to get a aireal pic from them. All for free :
Now; would'nt that be the ticket

Mark, has anyone though of calling one of the magazines like chevy high performance, the camaro one(forgot the name), or hot rod ??? I seen alot of articles in all of these that are a lot less note worthy than 200 third gens in 1 place. Anyways who knows maybe one of them would take care of alot of the pictures and stuff.

Cheaper than a Choper...
Know anyone in the local fire department with a 3rd gen? Or maybe someone who just likes cars? (i can't believe you can't find one..)

It'd be just as easy and infinitely less expensive if you could just get a ladder truck down and raise the ladder with a camera.

If someone in the dept has a 3rd gen or is a car freak i'm sure you could persuade them to come out and hang out for a little while.

Thought of that same thing, but thought I may get laughed at, lol.

I have contacted some mags a while back with no luck thru email. But I'll try again soon. Someone said they tried a while back with one for another event, but they weren't interested in a first yr thing.

Guys, all this talk of food and all someone start another thread or I may later tonday.

you guys are talking about a campout, i dont know if i want to do all that, i'm all for comin out and lookin at all the awesome rides, but i dont know if i want to spend the weekend there. thank *** it's in maryland, close to where i live. i have a few friends that volunteer at the local Fire Department, but i doubt they would come all the way out there in the hook and ladder truck. good idea, but if we were closer it could be possible.

the fire company is a good idea. we have a group shot of the two companies in our department that we used a ladder truck to take the pic. It gets plenty high enough to take a HUGE picture.

They might be more inclined to do it if you offer a small donation. Maybe people can chip in for it. or pay an admission to cover it. that way your helping out a charity too.

If we werent 3 or 4 hours away I'd say maybe I could work something out with our ladder. but that aint happenin.

COOL

i would donate to a fire department if we could get a ladder truck down to take a big overhead view of everyone with their cars.

Anybody know any paparazzi? A lot of those guys use remote control digital cameras mounted on kites for aerial photos of houses.

And I really like 92RSMuscle's idea

Wait, costill91Z has a good point. If we let the major mags know about this event and they come to do an article, we could probably work something out to have them take some shots with our own rolls of film, sans copyright issues. It's a bit of a stretch, but probably one of the best ideas so far.

Yes, but like I've said, I've emailed a few so far, though I'm not sure if I used the right email, and I've heard mags don't like to cover first time events.

If anyone can get some contact info that would be great.

There are photography services out there that could do panaramic shots too. They have a lot of techniques and equipment to photograph large things at once.. At a price though.. Not gunna be cheap but it's not going to break anyone's billfold either. Worth the money, do some investigation for companies in that area.. This info came from my Uncle, he used to be a professional photographer.

So what do you guys think?
Ok so I got bored and decided to do this before the weekend. Let me start by saying that this is just a rough idea that turned out way bigger than expected so if you guys have some ideas let me know and I can change it. Oh yeah I hope we actualy get over 100 third gens there cause it takes lots of cars to make shapes and spell stuff, lol :lala:

That's cool, we have 450 ft long, but I don't think the place is 200' wide...

If I had to guess, I'd say 150 wide at most, I could be wrong, I'm going off memory.

For the national fbody gathering, some cool things they had were a professional photographer taking pix of the event, and you just gave him the cash and he sent u the pics, a country side cruise which was cool..imagine seeing a line of like 50 or more cars just driving..and they had it catored which wasnt too bad...just some ideas
