Think I've found a place.

I just got off the phone with the Howard Co. Fairgrounds, located in No. MD.

He is mailing me a brochure to make sure this will be ok to me for this event, but he says it should be fine.

He has to work around some scheduling, but thinks he can work something out in June. Also, he said as an estimate to rent it will be about $500.

I'm not sure of the exact city it is in, but you can enter Monrovia, MD into mapquest.com if you want to get an estimate of travel time.

Thanks guy, and hopefully we're about a week away from gettin this thing nailed down.

I believe the track and campgrounds are no more than a 15 min drive within the fairgrounds.

Not sure how much he would want up front, either way, you have 150 intereted, that's only like $3 per person.

I have to call thirdgenresource , they're interested in sponsorship as well as Mike from hr3rdgen.org but I think he might be gettin the shirts for us.

the track is about 15-20 min away from the fairgrounds and the camp site is about the same.

Thanks Der, once we get a date set, I'll email 7580 dragway again, to see about renting the track.

I thought the Howard County Fairgrounds were in West Friendship, MD just off of I70!! You may want to double check the location and name of the fair grounds.

I beleive they are, If I listed a city above, I just gave it at the time just to give people an idea, since these locations are close to each other.

Yup, they wanted $10k to rent the track.

But I would need enough space for us to park for a car show..

10,000 is CRAZY.......how exactly are you setting this up? I mean if you are trying to get a weekend date at the track, then yeah, you may be looking at this kind of money because MIR will make 10,000 by just having a TNT that day!

Now if you wanted to rent out a weekday, then that might be a different story.

Here is what you do....contact Bergie @ bergie@dontbescaredracing.com and tell him that Jeremy sent you. If he says "who is Jeremy" tell him I taped his 8.85 run on his bike at MIR the day before the import vs. domestic shootout. Ask him who to contact about renting and or get some information from him, he rents out MIR once a month throughout the year so a bunch of guys can go and make some passes.

Too bad that you don't want ot go north. Sounds like beaver springs in PA would be just the deal, dirt cheap and an easy going owner also.

Monrovia, MD is only 500 miles from Scumter.

That's a half-day drive. Works for me!

Woohoo. Not as far as I thought! Only about 700 miles each way for me! lol. 700 miles at about 17 mpg= $170 round trip gas cost, and about 12 hours of driving. including tolls its probably about $180 to $190 for me.

Hey if we get the carravan going maybe us IL people can draft on the way there.
