Something to complain about...

First of all. I did attend the 3rd gen nationals, but not in my daily driver TA. Not finishing my recent cam install forced me to take one of my other 3rd gens. I chose my crappy 89 Formula. This was a car that I was working on selling. In fact, it was taken off my insurance back in December when I stopped driving it around. So, I slapped my TA temp tags on the back, grabbed my TA insurance card, and decided to chance it.....When I left, I forgot how bad the brakes were, and I am surpirsed that the metal-on-metal grinding and to-the-floor brake pedal stopping was enough to make it on the 1,200 mile round trip. On the way down the rain made my completely bald rear tires float like intertubes on the highway. I stalled out several times due to a bad battery connection. About 2 hours away from the campsite I started developing tranny problems. I almost took my driver's side mirror off after it came in contact with a cement pole at the campsite's "secure" pin entry system. Then came the drive home......

At close to 4 in the morning on Mon I was traveling on the PA turnpike (I70) in lower PA. All of the sudden a deer came out right in front of me without giving signal to his intentions, completely disregarding my right of way. The deer collided with my front end and was flipped over my car, luckily missing the windsheild and t-tops. After surveying my damage and noting that this was now a hit-and-run as the deer had long-fled the accident scene, I decided to suck it up and complete my long journey home, thanking myself for being a slacker and not finishing the cam on time....

Here's a pic of my TA,.....the car that should have been:

1) The rims are silver 16 inch WS6 Formula rims w/ all of the WS6 centercaps intact. They are in decent shape. Tires in front are ok,....rear are litterally all bald.

1.5) I also have a set of very good condition of the same rims w/ Dunlop SP 5000 p245/50/16 w/ pretty good tread left.

2) Do the headliners (board and cloth) rust?....I removed the headliner and board in this car because the material was sagging. I have the original headliner board, but it is in two peices.

3) I have the 120 MPH speedo. Currently I have a set of guages I made on the car.

3.5) I also have the set of stock guages that came with the car

4) also have exellent shape overhead consoles w/ flashlights, stock sized CD player, excellent condition speaker covers (black), pretty good dash pad, digital dash trim, etc, etc, etc....

I almost hit a few deer myself on the drive through MD. Also at the campgrounds. Deer were everywhere. Sorry to hear about your luck.

Only problem I had all weekend was the timing jumped on me on the way home and I had detonation for 400 miles. Couldnt be good.

Sorry to hear about your collision with the deer.

Over all my trip went great, only one problem. The 3 bolts that hold the passenger side of the y-pipe to the header, vibrated loose and eventualy all the way off leaving about 1/2" gap between the two. So about the last 400-500 miles It sounded like I was driving a nascar or something. By the time I got home, my passenger and I were both nearly deaf from the noise, but it did sound pretty cool. And its all fixed now.

That's it! It is time to turn those damn deer loose on mustangs!

Sorry your trip was so bad. I hope you will still make it to next year's gathering, though.

That sucks, but at least you're OK and it wasn't the "good" car.

I used to live in PA, I understand the deer thing. (knock on wood) I have never had the misfortune of a deer. Down here in the south they are big dogs, up there they are HUGE! Sorry to hear about the car, but it could have been worse. Better luck next year!

Deer in NJ are horrible.... NJ extends its huntting season for deer cause of the massive amount of them... You can find at least 3-4 of them dead on the highway and around 10 on any stretch of the parkway.

That really sucks. Good thing you weren't driving the good car! Is the car totalled or is it repairable?
