Classes for next year
While I was voting in the camaro class I found myself being torn between two cars, one being a spotless stock example, and one being more of a custom/modified car. So, how about next year we have stock/modified classes? I am thinking 3 mods from original or less will be stock, more will be in the modified class.
Thirdgen Camaro Factory stock
Thirdgen Firebird Factory stock
Thirdgen Camaro Modified
Thirdgen Firebird Modified
Non-thirdgen
All will have 1st/2nd/3rd.
Thoughts?

Well, since I now have one modified and one stock, I think that's a great idea.
As well, I know that some of you die-hard f-body fans aren't very fond of the modded versions (like my bling wheels and chrome mouldings, for example) and prefer that stock look -- so much in fact that I was really surprised to win anything.
So, I guess what I'm trying to say is that would be great for me!

sounds great, 'specially for those of us that can't afford to many mods. But if they've all got 1st 2nd and 3rd, and we have a showing like this past one, everyone's gonna get a trophy....which is cool. I think there's plenty of categories to choose from, if you wanted to get more specific (ex. best stereo, best exhaust, best whatever) but the nationals seems a little small for all that. Overall though I thought the categories were good.

The new catagories sound great, however I feel that given it is a THIRDGEN nationals, that there really isn't a need for a non-thirdgen group. I understand there are some 4'th gens, and maybe even 2'nd gens, but in all reality, it is a THIRDGEN meet, and while going to a thirdgen meet I don't feel the need to pay for trophies for people that aren't driving thirdgens. I made a comment about that last weekend, and I know a couple other guys agreed with me, but that's my .02

This is in response to what Stingraye said..........
Most 3rd gen owners are "camaro guys" or "firebird guys" so naturally, they probably like all generations of either car. Many people own cars from more than 1 generation (like ES87iroc), so seeing a few 1/2/4 generation cars is inevitable. I'm sure 8/10 third gen owners love to see 1st, 2nd, and 4th generation cars as well.
*Edit* Also, why not invite some Fox body stang guys to the track day and get some heated rivalry-based races?

i like the idea for those classes.
as far as the non-thirdgen class, absolutely a good idea. we are car guys in general(and girls of course). i like to see other cars in attendance. we all will sit there and talk car-talk the same who cares what we drive. i would love to see some second or even first gen camaros or birds come through. my.02 plus interest

While Stingraye has a good point, here is how I see it. We have some great members that don't have their thirdgens anymore, and it would be great to include them in the events. We are all car folks, and variety makes for an interesting show.
The non-thirdgen cars pay in the same amount as the thirdgens, so it all washes out in the end.
Hope this clears things up!

How about a "Greatest Potential for Accurate Restoration" (or otherwise known as the "Affectionately rusty" category)... I'll drive from Cleveland, Ohio for that one...
