First time at Track, need psi info

Hey guys. I'm going to the track for the first time tonight with my 91 GTA and was wondering what kind of rear tire pressure you guys run. I have 245 50's on it and believe it has all the free mods. Right now (just practicing on the back roads) I have to roll into the throttle from an idle very slowly and am still spinning through first gear (5000RPM), but that is on the street with no traction compound and the tires set at 35 psi al the way around. Thanks in advance guys. Drive on, Damien.......

I run my Trans Am's GSC's at 27lbs rear and 40 front. At least that's a place for you to start. Good luck tonite.

Try the same driving style at the track,35psi should be a good place to start.Try shifting at 4600-4800rpms with a tpi motor.

I do a burnout for about 5 seconds or so. Not a smokey one just enogh to heat 'em a little and clean 'em. But stay out of the water or your finished with street tires.

I personally think 35's a little to high in the rears for the track but it's worth a try.

I went to the track for the 1st time friday night and I think my tires were set to 28psi. I think that is good. I did do a burn out in the water pit. This friday night when I go again I am going to stay out of the water. I dont think that I have to do a burn out. Or do I. I am also going to ride the stall converter to around 1500RPM when I go instead of going from idel which is 550RPM. I also had a 35lb sub box in the back of my car and the spare and jack were also in. I am taking all of that stuff out so I will lose 80lbs. I am hoping to get to 15.95. That will be 15.17 corrected.

What do u guys think.

I did take out the spare and jack on my GTA and it made tire spin worse. Guess I need all the weight I can get back there. Judging by your 60' your not having that problem so I'd say it sounds like a good Idea. As far as a burnout I'd say you don't need it and definately stay out of the water box!! Drive on......Damien
