1/4 Mile Equations...

Anyone heard of this equation that if you take the cube root of the weight of the car divided by its horsepower and multiplyed by 5.825.... This seems to work, my T/A weights right around 3200lbs, I plan on wieghing it pretty soon at my local weigh station to be exact. And my horsepower is right around 160-175 or so and I get that my car should run a 15.5, of which it runs just that. ( Enter this in the calc; (3200/165)^(1/3) X 5.825 )

(Info from Trick Flow, in Car Craft, July 02.)

Mine said 13.78 for the 1/4. I geuss that doesn't count in the fact that Ford AOD sucks. But maybe that is something to shoot for with the stick.

Mine said I should run a 12.20 (assuming an 18% loss through the drivetrain to convert my rwhp to fly wheel). Considering my mph through the traps, I think 12.20 is a pretty reasonable estimate for an optimum ET.

All these times are with 20% driveline loss.
13.37@101.95mph on my stock 350HO (330hp/380 ft lbs at the flywheel, 264 horsepower at the wheels)

12.06@113.04mph with a XR282, 750 carb and single plane (451 horsepower/440 ft lbs torque, 360 horsepower at the wheels)

10.96@124.41 with cam, intake, carb and a 150 shot. (601 hp at the flywheel, 480.8 horsepower at the wheels.)

It seems accurate for absolute perfect run estimates. I would say my car would run at least .4 slower than all of these times, but a 13.37 on my stock 350HO sounds like fun lol.

13.26@102.77 is what it says for me.Said RWHP was 300,which i feel is rarher high.I go through best of 102.7 in 4th/OD so im losing a coupl MPH there.I figure im probly about 260-270 RWHP.But hooking good on a 18x 60 ft 13.3x would not be out of line.
