That's almost the same setup I'm going with except for a XE274 cam and a G-force T-5.

What overheating problem?? There are lots of 400's on this board that have no trouble with heat. Drill the steam holes in the heads that is all you need to do.

Im going to run a 412 (.060" over) and I wont have a cooling problem. I dont understand how people have cooling problems on a third gen. one of my old cars had a 412 in it, I had aftermarket induction so I didnt have the ECM to run the fans so I wired them on all the time and the thermostat was a 160 and the car ran so cold (like 150) even in the summer that I had to put a 180 stat in it.

How can you guys even attempt to guess how his setup is gonna run if:

A. We know absolutely nothing about the cam that he is running except for the lift.

B. We know nothing about the compression.

C. We don't know how much his car weighs.

With 10:1 compression, a cam with at least 240/240* @ .050 on a tighter lobe separation of around 108-110* and a 3400 pound car with driver, I think 11's are definately possible on slicks.

However, with 8:1 compression, a cam with a 116* LSA and 212/222*@.050 in a car that weighs 3800 pounds with driver it could run 15's or 16's .

Keep the carpet but remove all the underlay. Pull the front seats and install race buckets. 2 seats could remove close to 100 pounds. Remove the crash bumpers from behind the front and rear plastic covers. Manual steering box.

There's lots more ways to remove weight but there comes a point as to how much you want to remove and still keep it streetable. Look at it this way. If it isn't needed to go fast, remove it.

Ditch your smog stuff if you still have it, cruise control too. Also, if you still have your ecu and harness, rip those out. My ecu and harness weighed a lot more than i thought they would.
