How much should it improve
How much should it improve
Here is my slip
R/T ... 1.499
60 ... 1.981
330 ... 5.606
1/8 ... 8.713
MPH ... 79.14
1000 ... 11.388
1/4 ... 13.672
MPH ... 95.56
This was my first pass ever. It was one hell of an experience to say the least. My friend, who has been doing it for awhile, thinks I hit the brake to early cause of my 1/4 time and MPH (the guy ran against ran a 14.5 at 96.45). This was my only pass of the night, because of some issue with my hood.
I've stalled the car up to 2200 RPM on the street before, this pass I didn't stall or **** it myself. So here is my question, if I had of stalled it and shifted it myself (it shifts at 5200 RPM I would of let it breath till 5800-6000) what kind of times should I put down.
Just some specs from the car, its a 383 stroker, it has Edelbrock performer RPM aluminum heads on it. It sports an Edelbrock performer RPM intake, and a 670 demon DP carb. I'm not sure about the rear gear (I know it was a 5 speed 305HO car 84 camaro), but it doesn't spin the tires, tires are Mickey Thompson 10.5 street slicks.
It has shorty headers, to a straight pipe, and end out in a 3 chamber flowmaster. Its a TH350 transmission with shift kit. Its a 14x10 K&N open element set up. Everything has been gutted, no air or blower motor, only battery and engine underhood, oh and overflow. The car has traction bars and I thknk thats about it. Any kind of help would be appreciated.

You say you hit the brakes at the end. From calculations based on your 1/8 mile and 1000 foot time, you should be closer to 13.5's.
The reaction time sucks but it was your first time and everyone gets nervous. Next time concentrate on the last yellow light. When you see it come on, Go! If you wait for the green, you're going to be too slow.
The mph is an indication of the amount of HP the engine is producing however depending on gearing and tire size, you can't use it to compare 2 different cars. When I still used a 383 SBC I was running 12.0's. A typical car set up properly would run 12.0 at around 108 mph. I was doing it at 117 mph.
1984 305HO with manual transmission came with 3.73 gears.

looks like ur slowin down at the end notice how the 79mph 1/8th and then a 95 1/4, it should almost be 100mph at the end of the track. play with ur timing or afpr a bit.

To be quite honest, I did hit the brakes, but Im not sure if it was before or after I crossed. I wasn't sure, I know I hit the brakes and then started back up thinking it wasn't over yet. So I cant honestly say yes or no to that one.
