Curious what you mean by "minus the open element".
Could you post all the numbers from the slip? Helps to understand how the car's running.
For the Camaro, my best "stock" LG4 time at altitude was 16.80 @ 80 mph (15.58 @ 86.2 mph at sea level). That was after a season of tweaking; earlier times were more like 17.25 @ 78 - stock air cleaner, no tuning, etc. Open element was the biggest improvement, others came gradually. That was with 3.08 open rear, by the way.
With the mods in my sig, you can see what it does. If you did the same, and tweaked the TBI, you should see similar results.
Of course, I'd like better gears, more stall, and a transmission that shifts from 2nd to 3rd at wide open throttle...

Congrats on the new time. It's nice to see a near-stock 305 running similar times as me. My best was a 15.4 with the mods in the sig. I deffinately need to go faster. I wouldn't mind seeing how fast I could get the 305ho running, but I think a rebuild would take too much time that I don't have. If your engine is in good shape, I say start the head/cam work. You'd only get faster.

Doesn't affect anything for fun runs, though.
