Camaro falls to a Neon...
I might lease an SRT-4 for a few years, but I don't think I'd want to OWN one. The majority of Neons I've run across with some age on them just felt horrible; like they were made of cardboard and held together with duct tape.
Granted, they're all right when they're new, but once they get several years and 30k plus miles, ugh. I'd rather be able to just turn it in at the end of the lease with no worries rather than live with it (not to mention after the warranty runs out!)
Yeah, I know, leasing isn't cost effective, but this is one time when I might make an exception if I had some extra money (like that'll happen!!

He he...
I think "extra money" is like Haley's Comet. People tell you it exists, and you hear all about it, but have you ever really SEEN it? '

Like I said you get what you pay for....
An SRT-4 will never look as good as my T/A..(no matter how many body kits come out for it)..and it will never sound as good...
And we'll see how well they are running in 16+ years...
My T/A is doing pretty damn good for its age....
I wonder how strong the bottom end is on these motors..
And like mentioned above....I wouldn't trade anything for that low RPM torque that snaps your neck back....

Not trying to beef up a Neon, but I've driven that thing, and it's a beast, it's the only 4 cylinder I've driven, except the Mustang SVO that actually has plenty of Torque.

5000?? I do respect the fact they can run high 13's stock. I also like the fact that the SRT is an import alternative. I don't see why chevy couldn't make a cavalier the same way. The import aftermarket is huge. Why cant chevy get a peice of the sport compact action???
In the meantime i will enjoy my "new classic" in pure americana pleasure,,,, below 5500 RPM of course......
2300 lbs??? thats a tin can.

Would only beat them by 3/10ths? I've got a motor trend video with facts and figures that pretty much debauches that theory. Motor Trend quotes 4.6 seconds and the 1/4 mile in the low 13's. Sounds like more than a few tenths to me.

If anyone still has kazaa, I saw a video of a third gen racing an SRT-4. It was from the SRT-4s drivers view. It was an interesting video, and if my memory is correct, the third gen had him untill about 3rd gear. Id look into it if you were interested.
