First time back at track in five years!!!!
So I ran the z saturday down at E town.Overall I am pretty content for the first time back..man am I rusty!!Second pass went like this..
60Ft:1.968
330:5.879
1/8:8.916
MPH:81.18
1000:11.513
1/4:13.675
MPH:104.82
I had to come off the line around 3000 rolling out and then mash it right past the lights because if I dumped the clutch the car would lock into first gear like the first pass resulting in a 17.1!!!Shifting was done at 5200rpm or so as I was beyond nervous and never let it run to 6k to bring the shift light on...DUH!!!!
Let the car cool down again..the temp was around 90 degress with 66% humidity..hot as all hell.Second pass went as follows..
60Ft:1.850
330:5.635
1/8:8.622
MPH:83.19
1000:11.210
1/4:13.371
MPH:104.77
Did nothing between the passes besides letting it cool and driving it a lil better on the third and last pass..it dropped 3/10ths which made me happy to see it pick up that well in 90 degree heat!!
The 60ft is lame because of the whole rollin out and mashing launch due to this beat 4 speed.Car pulled very well once under WOT.No bogs, flat spots, just a nice clean pull.I ran a borrowed set of 26x8.5x15 M/T Drags. Thanks Jamsgirl!
Overall I am happy with the MPH and the first time back.Car needs serious tuning as the carb is way off.Rebuilt it and threw it back on friday night due to a leaking accelerator pump diaphragm..didn't even set the mixture besides setting them at 1.25 turns out for a baseline.I need to get back for a day of tuning and teaching myself how to race this damn 4 speed again!!!I forgot how much I love to race this car..LOL

Here's a pic.....
I also got a chance to weigh the car..3390 with me (190lbs) and 3/4 tank of gas.Full weight Z28.Only thing removed is the blower motor itself (factory non A/C car),heater controls from center console and the radio.Still have the JBL 6x9's in the back..lol.Can't complain with that.
Can you say no weight transfer.Hotchkis 1" sport springs make for a great launch.

Sounds like a decent setup. I think you should be able to find a few more MPH in it pretty easy and get into the 12s. What are you running for exhaust?

I getta some more time at the track for jetting and timing tuning.Hopefully find some more MPH there!
Exhaust consists of SLP 1.75" headers with no cat and Flowmaster 3" Force II cat back (single 3").

Why do you say that?Is the RPM Air Gap that more superior compared to the Stealth?I do want to do the swap ironically..just need hard proof that it's worth removing one dual plane to swap on another ya know.

A Vic Jr. is a quite different intake than an RPM Airgap.

Decent start. I think a motor like yours shouldnt have too much trouble hitting 11's in not-so-hot weather.

I just got a new set of 27x10.5x15 Et Streets for the next outing since the slicks were borrowed.Besides the timing and jetting tuning..anyone have any suggestions on how to get this thing to go a lil faster???I really wanna see some 12's!

Get yourself an air gap or victor jr. and do some tuning to the timing and fuel. You will see the 12's easily. The reason the air gap and victor are better then the stealth is the port size and design plus the raised runners. This allows alot of heat to dissipate from the intake and heat kills horsepower. Also a set of 1.6 roller rockers and maybe some 4.10 out back would help alot. This only my opinion though. If you are having trouble hooking with the 3.73 you will have to practice with the 4.10. I think these mods will get you deep into the 12's if not high 11's. Good luck and keep me updated.
