03 Gt

Someone I know got an 03 Mustang GT Convert with a 4-auto, and asked me what it runs in the 1/4. Its completely stock so I was guessing around 14.6-14.7 does that sound about right?. I know the 5-speeds run low 14's but I wasnt sure about the convert w/auto. Heavier and crappy gears would make it slower...

they are probly more like mid 14's..some ppl might be able to launch them well enough to squeeze a low 14 but yeah, most are mid 14s.. thats 14.4-14.7 range

I drove it a few times, off the line its pretty quick but high end it seems a little short of power. Not sure what gearing it has maybe 3.27's.

I drove my freinds 5spd a couple times. I thought it was slow off the line and through second gear, but started to get better once in 3rd. At my local track they all run 14's-low 15's actually. Seen one get spanked by a stock 03 GTO this year on the street.

i ran two at teh track... one a 99+ gt that was stock from what i saw and he went 14.2 at 96

another mild worked up 96-98 GT i think, and he ran 14.1 at 97 i think as well

i was quicker than both but left the line late so they crossed the line first. my 13.98 and 14.0 at 100

The one I drove was an auto convert. So I bet the 5-speed cars would beat them by around 1/2 second. It felt like it ran out of power quicker than it should have. Maybe I am just use to driving faster chevys hehe

I like the 05 GTO with 400 hp I just don't like those four door Chargers. Four door for a sports car? Come on now

Ive seen new GTO after new GTO lose race after race at the track. The BEST Ive seen one run is 13.8. While an 05 Mustang GT with 100 less HP also ran 13.8. Junk, period! Dont wanna get too off topic now

The new GTO runs 13.2 at 106. The 04 GTO runs 13.4 at 104. The weight of the GT makes up for some of its lack of power. Ive seen the new Mustangs run 13.4-13.9. I dont think a 300 hp GT can beat an 05 GTO with equally skilled drivers.

Thats why I dont like or understand the new GTO's. I witnessed about 5-7 different ones race. One got into the 13's. Makes no sense to me. Or mabey there just difficult to drive

I saw an '05 GTO run a 12.9 with just some drag radials. And he didn't even launch all that hard. I don't think that's too shabby at all for a big passenger car. Plus the '05s look great and have an AWESOME interior. Their suspension is really nice too.

Have you even driven one? "Don't knock it till you've tried it!"

In the 1/8 mile, those mustangs are kinda sluggish (281 cubic inches pulling 3400 lbs) but those things rev really good. Autos are about the same as L98s..5 speed cars with bolt ons can be pretty quick

buddy of mine has a 2001 GT 5 Speed with 4.30's, TB, Headers, Exhaust and runs 25 psi on street tires and runs 13 flat.

Probably mid 14s, maybe low 14s at best. Expect the worst hope for the best!

The last ’03 GT Auto vert that I drove/worked on was a stinking slug stock (well, with a cat back…), by slug I mean that it might as well been a Taurus wagon rental car or something.

The 4.6 has no real low end grunt, the ‘vert is HEAVY and it doesn’t have enough gear/converter to get out of it’s own way. Add some gear and converter and you’ve got a much happier car. Add a Kenny bell blower running 9-13psi boost and then it’s almost fun (as long as you can get over the fact that us normal sized people can’t clear the tops of the doors or side padding on the roof preventing us from sitting upright)
