How much of an improvement?
Yea I know not another lo3 thread lol But heres the deal I have a lo3, auto with a 2.73 posi rear. I ran a best of 16.77 at 81.1 with a 2.45 60' with a flowmaster catback, open element on crappy bald 215/65/15 tires in hot humid air. Would I be able to break into the 15's with hedman l/t's 2.5'' duals with dumped bullets on my new 275/60/15 bfg radial T/A's in cooler air?

With a better launch (your 60' isn't very good) and those parts I could see you maybe getting into the high 15's. That's if your lucky. Add a set of gears to that list and I can definitely see you in the 15's.

well i'm not sure if long tubes are going to help you much,,,, what other mods have you done? going dual might not help either. You might get 1/4- 1/3 sec quicker at the most. if you want faster you need more ci.

so you want to switch to even taller tires and still keep that crappy rear end gear and hope to go faster? Sounds like you need a rear end swap to a 3.42 posi, then work from there. Next the exhaust is ok, but a engine swap at the same time would do wonders.

well then a rear end swap is needed since your 2.73 is more like a 2.50 with a 28" tall tire. I'd say 3.42 if not 3.73 at the bare minimum. Those LO3 motors are dogs though, sure exhaust will help, but you'll need to spend serious coin to make it a performer, might be cheaper to sell that car and buy a 350 TPI car.

headers back exhaust and good rubber (assuming you can get that 60' down around 2.0) would get you into the 15's yes...

Would I be able to run some 4.10's and still be able to keep it a DD (its my only car)?

I ran 4.10's for over 2 years without any DD problems. Just a little higher RPMS when cruising but if you have overdrive or the 5 speed your golden!

yep, i had a 275/60/15 tire on my car with a 4.10 gear and was able to click off 15mpg in town and 22mpg on the highway with no issues with overheating or anything like that. the key there is to get a lockup converter or a 5spd, like izcain said. look into a converter as well when you do the gear swap.
If you want to take the cheap way, get a V6 rearend which has 3.42's in it and just swap the whole damn thing. I got mine for $100.
Also, get a 95 4.3l S10 Converter at a Transmission shop. I paid $75 for a rebuilt one. I also upgraded later to a Corvette converter which was only $100.

I just thought 3.73s would be better since I am basically a stock lo3 at least for the next 2 or 3 months then hopefully a 350 of some kind.
vwdave---- Could you please tell me more about the s10 stall, isnt it a roughly 2200 stall speed?

Also, you do not want a huge stall in there. A S10 stall would be a great, cheap alternative to spending $300-$800 on a converter. Especially when youre not making tons of power.
