Sequential Shift Light

I've been toying with the idea of getting one of these...

It's a bit more expensive than your normal shift light, even after buying all the extra pills etc.

They apparently had a Honda club group buy, I was just wondering if anyone here would be interested.

I'm thinking of a green, yellow, orange, red, RED combo.

wow those are expensive, especially after the exchange rate and shipping overseas. I'd look for something produced or sold in the US

Pretty steep for something that shouldn't contain more than about $8 in parts.

Maybe, until you compare it to something like this and the MSD stuff...

Exchange rate at the moment is a killer. Not good for going from dollars to pounds. Fortunatly for me, my mum still has a checking account over there, and my aunt is visiting my grandmother over there for a few weeks. So I'll just have it shipped to my grandmothers and have my aunt bring it back.

not to sound negative, but i gotta put this in the same category as the noss lights, windshield washer led's, and illuminating shifter *****.

The only feature I like out of that is the anti-flicker. I use a multiple LED bulb in my shift light and as my rpms come up to the shift point, the light will flicker.

So what's the purpose of having a sequential light as you come up to the shift point? When I'm going down the track, I don't even use the tach. As soon as the shift light comes on, I shift. I don't have time to watch a bunch of lights sequentially blink up and down when I'm near the shift point.

The idea of an adjustable set point is good but all the new digital ignitions systems have this. MSD (digital 6,7,etc), Mallory, Holley (not made any more).

This isn't a very good drag race item but may be a good autocross or road course item providing you have enough to to actually watch the lights.

I suppose in theory it would allow you to anticipate the shift light, in the same way that the yellow lights on the christmas tree allow you to anticipate the green. light. It would be difficult to distinguish between individual bulbs with peripheral vision though, so the color differences might help there.

Yeah, I see your point. In drag racing, there is no point to hold it and continue driving AT redline. Shift and go. I see the lights as being a more visable form of a tach. (My car is built for AX and RR)

Rules can suck at times. (CMC) says no aftermarket ignitions. Man, I'ld love a 6al.

I hope to use it as essentially multiple shift lights. When racing, shift at the small red. When you really want to push it, shift at the big red. And before someone says just shift at max power, when someone else starts paying for my bills, I'll be sure to do that along with not using the clutch to shift and changing valve springs before every race. I'll choose to conserve my equipment for now. To finish first, you must first finish.

Thanks for the comments from those that don't lump shiftlights in with washer LEDs.

My tach has multiple shift points. The tach itself controls the shift light and I can set the shift point to be the same for each gear or have up to 5 different shift points all at different rpms. It also has a playback function where it will record up to 90 seconds. You can play it back at 1/3 speed or full speed.

I use an Autometer and it's only $240
