Re: hmm when do you lift?

i'd get some madman front end limiters, I like the cable type, that'll really help your issues. They work really nicely in keeping the nose down, otherwise looks like it's wheelie bar time if you can't control it.

Re: hmm when do you lift?

i havent seen a lift like that since a local guy here with his thirdgen sprayed a 400shot off the line on his built 408 shootin for 8's. took out the battery switch out back on the bumper and that killed the car...came down hard

thats pretty insane

Re: hmm when do you lift?

wheely bars are for sissys lol, it was my fault i didnt turn the progressive controller down, just built the engine first time at the track with it (so far it makes about 200 hp more than the old engine) i just wish i had the incar video running . after lifting the rear wheels letting of the throttle knocking the wind out of the driver i matted it and ran a 10.122 or so at 146mph oh and one of the things i did was move the shutoff it was under the right side of the bumper

Re: hmm when do you lift?

If our track every had good traction, I could probably do that too. Tripping the 60' timers with the rear wheels isn't good in a bracket race. Unloading the rear tires is even worse.

Re: hmm when do you lift?

i was only jetted for 225 hp on nitrous....and shoulda went high 8's after that the wheels were going all but straight lol, and then theres the flatened headers..... I was going to add limiters but didnt have time before, i htink i will make my own i dont really want alot of monkey motion in the limiters i can make several diffrent lengths and have a bolt in deal, need to make the bump stops actually hit something also, and maybe some new upper strut mounts since i bent the hell out of them lol

A set of "sissy" wheelie bars could have saved you a lot of money in damage repairs.

Re: hmm when do you lift?

really not too bad looked over got the hammer out and really headers are the worst , and i really do need larger headers anyway, so im not real upset about it, i will just add extension limiters on the front and see how much it will leave on. It has mostly stock rear suspension still has a torque arm mounted to the trans crossmember, a 9 inch housing with a 12 bolt center section (dont know where it came from so dont ask) lowerd the lower control arm mounts on the rear end so correct the squat, and its 28 10.5 15w mt tire, and it weighs 3250 as it was right there, and i have seen those flames peeking out from under the hood and i did lift then

Re: hmm when do you lift?

crawled under the car (still on trailer) and actually think i can fix the headers, with some heat and creativity, the right collector is tweaked some from the weight of the exhaust flexing so i might need to replace them but the damadge to the primarys isnt bad, hell i might even be able to fix them on the car, did look at some stahl headers in 2 inch primarys (supposedly what i need) and they say that they go through the fender, then i looked at the car compared to the pic.....unless they convert to steer by wire the steering shaft will be in the way?kinda confusing

Re: hmm when do you lift?

"when do you lift?" now is this a trick question or for real, if i can get a gold star for getting it right, lemme know, but as i see it, here's the multiple answers to choose from:

a. when you get skeerd-if you get scared your a puzzy so this is'nt really a viable answer

b. when you hit the guardrail-but if you lift you might get hung up, if you stay in it, it's possible for the car to crawl itself off the wall and continue down track

c. when you cross the center line-refer to answer a

d. when you cross the center line and run into opponent-you must be a big ombrey, cuz if i went across center line and hit the other guy, i'd find even more accelerator travel to get the heck outta there faster so i did'nt have to deal with the repercussions

e. when hood is just starting to touch scorboards in your feild of view.

f. you dont lift, and just pull the next gear hoping to settle it down with minimal damages

for my gold star i chose f. but i also realize it's easier said than done since you dont know how far she'll go until you get there

dont care what anybody says, big wheelies are waay cool sure they're not practical, but most of us wanna do it at lest once

Re: hmm when do you lift?

lol, actually it stopped accelerating.....this was really confusing. also there was too much cloud cover to see the stars for direction. the guy in the red shirt in the pic works with me, he said he saw the whole hood and some of the windshield, another coworker thats just out of the pic on the right (behind the fence) said the car was almost parallel with the tree. still not bad for a small block, and like 4k density altitude. afetr i fix the bump stops so they actually hit something i want to get back to the track and see how low i can get the 60 ft with limiters....1ts gone 1.35 with the old engine, was 355 now 383 13.0 compression 278/288 @0.050 .698 / .701 actual valve lift (already subtracted lash) on a solid roller and a carb i built using a proform chokeless center section and some other crazy parts only a "750" but probably flows more, didnt want to go too big though, since with nitrous you can kill the signal to the carb if it is overcarbed and the volicity is low (referance the jetting in your carb ihi), and i didnt really play with timing , i can probably run more but i didnt want to do plug checks all day and the event was rushed by rain in the am, all in all i think i was the talk of the show, the guy that won quick 8 ran a 8.90 and nobody noticed, i had to run him in rd 2 and that wheel (uh bumper) stand was rd 1 , the exhaust was banging against the bottom of the car and it was vibrating like hell when i ran the fast guy so i decided on the transbrake to turn the nitrous off and just run on engine (and i still treed the fast guy) later with the wheels being toed out it didnt want to stay in the groove or one lane for that matter so i guess i had almost all the when to lifts in one day lol

Re: hmm when do you lift?

well the good news is the only thing i had to buy was new collectors, fixed the primairy's with a tool i made, and to replace the one bent collector i got some merged collectors, I was able to straighten the upper strut mounts and now just needs an alignment the rest of the adjustments were cosmetic, i think i am going to replace the upper strut mounts anyway and put solid ones in to make the front struts work more accurately, so all in all not a bad day, will add limiters and maybe a step on the crossmember so it wont hit the headers again, and make the bump stops hit something.
