Will this pass NHRA tech inspection?

i highly doubt it. it needs to be right there in the open so everyone can see that you have a cutoff switch.

 

Location is questionable but I doubt it. Depends on your tech inspectors. Off is also not clearly marked.

 

nope wont pass. well, it will at some tracks, but if your car is quick and your running it at one of the bigger nhra tracks your gonna get hassled about it.

 

I would let it pass once and tell you that it better be much more visible next time. how about a big arrow sticker on the lower portion of your bumper? And yes, you need to have "OFF" undeniably visible. Look at it this way, put yourself in the starter's shoes. Now say this car caught fire at the 60' and you went running up to the car, would you be able to notice the switch?

which one of theses wires do I have to run to the battery to kill the engine when the switch is turned off?

 

are you running a 4 or 2 post cut off switch? if a 2 post you want to run the heavy gauge wire from the back of the alt to the back. if your running a 4 post you want to run the alt field wire (one of the 2 wires on the clip at the top it will be marked with an F) to the back.

 

I was going to put it there but I don't want to drill a hole in my taillight. And I wanted keep it mostly hidden cause I still use this car as a daily driver and I know if someone walks by my car and they see a switch that says off in big bold letters there either going to turn it off or try break it off.

 

So install the switch inside the car with a rod that goes through the back to the outside. Install it so push is off. When not at the track, remove the rod and put a plug in the hole.
