First time at the track 305 tpi
First time at the track 305 tpi
i was just wondering how i did for my first time at the track?,i dont have a scanner or digital camera on hand to post my time slip yet but heres what i ran shifting a little late at about 6k rpm(got a little excited): (r/t -.506) ,(60ft-2.025),(330ft-6.081),(1/8 mile-9.491@72.11mph),(1000ft-12.419)and (1/4 mile-14.887@91.36mph)the car weighs 3480lbs with me in it and 1/8 tank of gas, does this seem about right for my mods? and what could i do to improve?thanks in advance, joe

i would honestly have expected you to go a little quicker.
were you experiencing any tire spin?

Shifting a 6k? was it still pullin that hi up? Maybe shifting it at around 5200 would work better. the 305 can pull more rpm then a 350 from the tpi setup but i wouldn't think that much more. Also might be time for a stall converter.
Pete jackson gear drive huh, how does that thing work with your knock sensor? when my buddy tried to use one it caused his knock sensor to go crazy.

yeah i kinda expected a little quicker times to but no off the line i got pretty good traction on street tires,im thinking i just over reved a bit from 2nd to 3rd cause im used to shifting by ear and with the tpi it kinda screwed me.

These are ported stock runners? You aren't "pulling" beyond 5200 RPMs, you're only "spinning".
Shifting at 5200 will pick you up a little, but probably no more than a few tenths.

maybe 2-3 tenthsI see ur using a maf setup with a hypercrap chip. I would look into a custom prom. I use speed density which obviously needs more stuff done in the chip when modifing the engine butI think with a good custom tune you could make better use of all that power. Do you have a wideband? I would get one to help tune that thing and I wonder if wit all ur mods those 19lbers are enough to feed that thing. maybe even a walbro intake pump to help feed her
also I see you have some upgrades to the ignition but no box. With all that done a MSD 6 or a Accel 300+ ( I have used this ignition on all of my 87 up f bodies with great results. Got 5 mpg more out of my 87 and knocked a little more then a tenth off with just that system. its a nice multistrike kit).
I like ur list of mods but some small tweaking like this might help bring it all together.
by the way were in IL are you? I am not familar with Galesburg. What track did you go to?

Upgrade your suspension. When I had my 86 IROC with a lot of the mods you have I was able to run 13.90's consistantly.Installing subframe connectors, Spohn adj torque arm,Spohn relocation brackets, aftermarket LCA's etc I was able to pull 1.9 60'.Also had a chip burned for it by a friend that put the $400 chip by Performance Resource to shame.
