Engine break in

Hopefully tomorrow I will finally try to start up my motor and I was wondering if I have the flywheel/clutch/pressureplate and bellhousing bolted up but not the tranny in, is it fine to run it like this? I am pretty sure the answer is yes but I have never ran a car without a tranny installed. Parden my ignorance

Also in the demon book that comes with the carb it says to shut the fuel pump on and off at first so you dont cause damage to the carb is that really necessary or are they just trying to tell you the "correct" way? What throttle linkage bracket are you guys running that still have the stock throttle linkage for a TPI motor and now use a carb? Thanks for the help guys!

Re: Engine break in

another quick question, I mentioned the transmission isnt hooked up so do I need to put a jack under the bellhousing or the solid motor mounts should be fine while breaking the engine in? Thanks again.

Re: Engine break in

Should be fine, as long as the motor is up right in its correct operational position, the carb thing shouldnt be a problem with the fuel pump, i have never heard of it. For throttle bracket, a TBI bracket off a TBI V8 camaro/firebird or truck will work if you are on a budget.

Re: Engine break in

They probably want you to turn the pump on and back off to check for leaks.
as for a throttle cable, i want to say i got one from a carbed car or possibly a tbi car. (my throttlebody is in the same spot as a carb)
