i couldnt BELIEVE! the mph, so i hot lapped it back and ran 1.44 6.39 108.38
this is only with a 4.22 gear.
im not sure how much 60ft i can improve by going with more gear, but somebody tell me what i should put in it.

Have you thought about changing the converter.
And a trans break may help also.

Re: th350 vs glide
Gearing would largely depend on current trap rpm and whether or not you will drag it to a 1/4 track occasionally. I would think you're pretty close with those tall tires, as noted the converter may need to be optimized for the new set-up....or just throw the spray at it and see how it acts. lol
As I noted in the PM, good luck with the glide. Some people love 'em, some hate 'em. - Are you going to the US Street Nats in January? I'll be there running O/L632.

If you run the same track all the time, gear it where you run.

Re: th350 vs glide
i drive the car a lot, so i dont want to get crazy with the gear.
if i didnt, id put a 5.67 in the bad boy.
ran friday, and also sunday.
friday was no changes, just a good track.
56 degrees
1.43
6.373
108.64
sunday i tried some cut back electrode plugs, hunting thousanths.
71 degrees
1.415
6.372
108.16
still leaving off the footbrake.
there may be something left with the transbrake.
i doubt it.
love to see a 6.369 the way it sits.
guess those plugs do make a few more ponies, or the car just felt like cutting a better 60ft.

yes. same converter.
it was 5200 on the dyno with the 350, its more like 58-6000 now with the glide.
raceweight is 3280-3330 i need to get it back on some scales.
last time i weighed the car itself was 3048

You may consider going to a lower stall, and run the same gear. Is the converter locked up? What rpms are you shifting at and finishing at? Looks to be 60 ften pretty darned good to be running a 4.22 gear@ that weight, foot braken.

Re: th350 vs glide
Current problem I have is the car hits wheelie bars real hard with the 350, 60ft are mid 1.20's leaving at only 3000 rpm, anymore unloads a tire and tries to send me off track.. I am excited to see that even a heavier car picked up et with a glide, I am real sure it will pick me, I may even 60ft the same being I can come out alot harder.. Those are pretty impressive results you have, congrats..

Not a problem, my car weighs 2600 lbs, using a 5500 stall from my Prior Camaro which now stalls earlier with the lighter car, it will probably even out with the Glide I hope.

Re: th350 vs glide
Here is a video of early runs this year, it has since gone 9.02 @ 151 as well as a host of other 9.0s never hitting 8.99 yet. I could have taken it to maryland and gotten the 8.x, but really wanted to get the firebird in the 9s. I waqs also scared as well as that track hooks it would be in the wall.
This motor/trans went 9.5s in my Camaro, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHWxvQr15V4
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lRjQ6JcBS-o
Here is a still also, car really needs a glide..

Re: th350 vs glide
The Camaro was probably 1.41 or so on the rear tires, the best that car 60ft'ed time was 1.31, but the ebst 60fts were with rear tires.. So I think it was probably 1.29 or so.. That pass in the Vega was probably 1.30, that was early in year - the car was weird it would wither spin slightly and get a 1.30, or not and go 1.25s, figured out later it was in the burnout - it likes longer burnouts with the goodyears I guess.. It now is consistant 1.25s or off the track... If it hooks to hard it just smashes the bars and unloads a tire.

Re: th350 vs glide
we are using a 400 w/brake when put in the sonny's 565 had violant wheelstands to say the least also, had to totally change the 4 link, tune the wheelie bars(they are critical) and now leave at 3600...we have run 5.60 and 1.20 60', we were looking at a glide change as well but would really like to sell the car at this point...Rob

Re: th350 vs glide
to each their own, they work for some, not for others. I'll stick with my 400.
Tire pressure
Shock adjustment
IC adjustment
wheenie bar adjustment
Could be anyone one of those things, any combination, or all. - I know that really helped you narrow it down. Try tightening the extension on the shocks a click or two and bumping the tire pressure down 1/2psi and up 1/2psi; post back results. - I can't remember off hand; is that thing ladder bar or 4-link?

Re: th350 vs glide
what we ended up doing was taking bite out of the 4 link, adjusting the pre-load, setting the shocks on the #5 setting, running the right side wheelie bar 1/2 lower....3 & 31/2, lowered leave rpm from 4200 to 3500, 7psi thats where we ended up...

Its a 4 link car, lowers are already at the lowest mount point as well as uppers.. I would think tightening the rebound would worsen the problem being a tire is unloading already? Tire pressure has been from 8.5 to 10, best 60fts are with around 9.5 it seems.. I have moved bars up on the side which is unloading with little help, I actually think a longer bar would help some, or maybe making extensions to lower the bars some more. Raising I think will make it worse and probably wreck car, being when it unloads a side its almost off track instantly, so with front higher that could cause issues.. Either way car will be faster and more consistant with a glide, but that will still be pending when I can afford one. Thanks for help.

Re: th350 vs glide
It's hitting the tires too hard, thus getting up on the wheelie bars which are doing their job and unloading the tires. Tightening the shock extension will take some hit out of it, thus lowering how hard it gets up on the bars. - Have you plotted the 4-link?

Re: th350 vs glide
That makes more sense to me now, but will be worse if it hits the bars hard still.. 4 link has been plotted.

Re: th350 vs glide
For brackets, it's hard to argue against a PROPERLY built glide, less stress off the line, 1 shift, see win light, move onto next round.
I'd definately be sending the convertor off somewhere for a fin tweak, it's already slipping higher % due to lack off gear ratio, so your not utilizing all the motor to get you up and running, so you still have ET to be found for a few hundred bucks.
Gear ratio wise, you wont see squat going from the 4.22 to a 4.56 cept a couple hundred rpm....so your obviously going to have a trade off between extracting everything the car can give you for your track, or leaving some on the table since you still drive it...you cannot have both unless your running a 3 speed with a gear vendor At the very least if your not wanting to move into the 5 series range of gears, get that convertor out and get it retuned for the glide, i dont know which stator you have but they may even swap that out depedning on what you have currently.

Re: th350 vs glide
i wont be putting a 4.56 in the car. if i change the gear, it will be 5.00-.43 range.
just put on a set of 28" tires back on the car.
that mathematically changes my gear from a 4.22 to a 4.52 right now.
im betting a hundreth or two with the smaller tire.
ill see how it goes.
been working so much, the car is still in the air with no tires.
