Are any of you guys running on E85 or higher? If so, I'm looking for a supplier in central IL of E98.

 

there is a local guy (Eddyville Raceway in Iowa) that runs e85 with good success, and another that runs it with his procharged nova. both cars run 6.0x or faster and dead consistent. what questions exactly do you have?

 

I run E85 in a 2840 lb car. 406 sbc , 6.32 to 6.38 with 60s in the 1.32 to 1.38 in the summer heat and marginal track. Haven't been out much this year early then had a heart attack little over a month ago. Hope to get out before the season is over. I'm very happy with the switch to E85 and would do it again. I was having trouble sooting my plugs on race gas, usually indicating rich, but when I took fuel it slowed down. The plugs on corn are clean as can be. Won't be going back to gas.

 

i run E85 and it is great stuff. it is consistant. and i use nitrous with it

 

stiletto, did you have your system flowed or what adjustments did you have to make for the tune ups from gas?

 

i had a quick fuel Q850 for gas, then i bought the metering blocks from them and jetted up and adjusted the floats and fuel regulator.

i have a aerospace ultra 350 pump and #10 fuel line. i didnt have anyhting flowed.

 

i was meaning on the nitrous side of things

 

i was at 5 3/4 psi on gas and i just set it at 7 psi on E85 and then made passes and read plugs, gotta read the plugs carefully

 

i know, e85 burns so so clean seeing a fuel ring would be pretty difficult....i wouldn't imagine that reading the timing would change that much

 

Reading the timing is still the same, just the fuel is a little more difficult to read

 

Do you have to do anything special to the fuel system to run E85/E98. I have a virgin fuel system(no gas in the tank yet)that consists of all aeromotive pump and filters to stainless braided lines. I have a station that sells E85 from the pump just a few miles away. That would be nice if I could run it with out to much trouble.

 

what aeromotive pump you got? set it up like you gonna run alcohol.If all of you components are alcohol compatable then you good to go. Yes you will have to have you carb set up for it. Call Zack at quick fuel!!!!!

 

I have an A1000 pump. Factory tank that is sumped with a Comp Engineering sump and I'm running EFI with a HSR manifold and 65# injectors. I was told that E85 is very corrosive and that I would need to have me tank coated, any truth to this?

 

its slightly corrosive, i add VP fuels alcohol additive to solve that.
i believe an A1000 will work.
i have noticed that sometimes the needle below the squirter will get stuck if the car sits for a month or more

 

E85 is not corrosive like methanol. Keep water out of it, and you won't have any problems.
