what will it run?

in the home stretch well um sorta lol of getting my swap running and kinda curious as to what it may run. the last time i did this i was going to be running a stock 5.3 swap with ls1 intake and prettymuch just the boltons and tune to make it run. before with basicly a stock 5.3 th350 3500 converter 2.73 open i got answers from high 8s in 1/8th to low 9s. now ill be running 3.73 posi rear same th350 and converter with a ls1 hot cam car now has sportlines sfcs tubular lcas lcarbs and new shocks/struts all the way around but for now unless i pickup some drs it will be on some 215/65/15 street tires on stock wheels LOL. i know alot of it will be track prep and if it will hook and tires will play a big part i know. the track i run at is a 1/8th mile and about 1500ft above sea level. would like some guesses for 1/8th and 1/4 if ya gotem! thanks

Re: what will it run?

I'd like to weigh it once I get it all back together but my guess with me in it maybe 3400lbs maybe a little more or less. I'm debating on picking up some et streets but its hard for me to justify the price when I will most likey only go to the track once or twice a season.

BUY TIRES...even if you have to get some used ones.

provided you have optimal traction, and the tune is good, i'd say some 8.4-5's are possible...which would equate to ~13.4's or so in the 1/4.

Re: what will it run?

I think if everything clicks right, a high 12, and in the low 8 second 1/8th mile, those engines are 300ish HP and you cammed up, stall and geared decent, should run pretty god if it is tuned well.

Re: what will it run?

I was suposed to be getting some 245/50/16 nitto drs on some crosslace wheels with the parts car I bought but the guy will not answer my texts/phone calls now so I doubt ill get them :/.I was kinda hoping it would be in the lower 8s range in the 1/8th since the motor I ran in my 82 ta last ran me into the high 8s and it was a 305 with the same transmission and gear and the motor was pretty close to a carbon copy of the one mw66nova ran some years ago.

Re: what will it run?

It will run hard man, no doubt, if it doesnt go low 8s, there is something wrong with the tune or combination of parts, or both.

Re: what will it run?

I'm sure it will slow down a little when I swap to a t56 or more or less not as consistant but I figured I might be able to squeak by some quicker times with the auto. The converter I'm running is a 9.5in single disk with anti balloning plates it would footbrake to 2400 or so behind the 305 in the other car and flash pretty much to 3500 and it would kill my 275/40/17s and the 235/60/15 street tires from 25mph.

Re: what will it run?

Consistency will depend on the driver mod, my last outing was a 7.15, 7.13, 7.16, and i am sure the differences were also because i do not stage the same. If you can drive your azz off with a manual consistency is not a big deal, not the shift delay i think can make a manual a touch slower maybe unless you have a full race trans with face plating and the works, you nearly dont need a clutch when shifting.
