ready for autocross but what class?

so like stated in the title im ready to run autocross but have no clue what class im in. i looked at the scca rule book and its a little over my head right now with so many classes maybe a web link would help? my car is a 91 350 tbi rs so im not going to be in a stock class but i hope it doesn't push my car to a class i cant compete in. any help would be appreciated.

ps any1 go to Nassau Coliseum for Autox?
pss most of the cars that compete are BMW's at Nassau Coliseum

Re: ready for autocross but what class?

any suspension mods? and is the engine an L98? (guessing it is)
if it is an internally un-modded L98, my guess would be it's in E Street Prepared (ESP).

Re: ready for autocross but what class?

is the L98 stock to that year? the bushings would bump you to E Street Prepared or Street Touring Ultra. As a 1st timer, no one will hassle u the bushings are the only alteration on a 20 year old car in stock unless u show an immense amount of skill. at subsequent events, u should be where ur supposed to be and if u like autoX w/ scca, there plenty more u can chnage and remain in either ESP or STU.

hope to C U Sunday. If u wish to pre-reg, www.msreg.us/nyr2011-1. if u wish to save a bunch of time in the morning, pay online as well.

Re: ready for autocross but what class?

The bushings put you in ESP as well as the TBI since it's matched with an L98 350. It was originally an L98 TPI car, it could run in STU. Probably nobody would care anyway, but I've usually been a stickler for the rules (my very first autocross, in my old '92 Sentra SE-R, I ran in CSP because I had a header ).

Re: ready for autocross but what class?

The 350 with tbi is what put you in ESP since it allows update/backdate and intakes are pretty much open.
If it was just bushings, you'd be in STX (assuming it was originally a 5.0)

Re: ready for autocross but what class?

Then again, probably no one would care if you go in STU if it's a local event.

Re: ready for autocross but what class?

just finished going to my first event! Started my first run with a 52.4 and ended with a 46.1 to 46.4 for the last three runs. I feel that i could have gone faster with a new set of tires since the ones on the car are 3yrs old. I pushed my car pretty hard more than i thought capable of doing but i knew i lost time every time i ended up drifting a corner or the rear sliding when accelerating out. I was hoping to see another Camaro that had also preregistered to see if he could give me some pointers but never showed.

Lot 6 was really slippery. Just so Pat can relate, imagine FedEX totally sealed, and teh first time on it. The day rewarded car placement and grippy tyres.
Ken w/ Camaro bailed. He'll be hit or miss till August then. I'm pretty sure all the storms late Saturday night gave people the idea to sleep in. All teh fun happens when you make sure to wake up early. At least for autoX.

You mean like this? (F125 kart + slicks + cold weather + newly sealed lot = dizziness)
