2011 racing season a done deal

I only raced LS1 powered cars this year, and didn't break anything! The "primary" race car is the '82 Berlinetta with LS1/4L60E out of a 2000 Camaro. The other '82 Berlinetta with LS1/T56 out of a 2000 Camaro SS was only used for a "stick shift" class and the "LS" class they ran at the Super Chevy Show.

I ran in a total of 9 classes (I know, nuts). Highest season finish in any class was a tie for 3rd (was the defending season champ in that class, missed a repeat by 2 rounds - even after losing 1st round in the 1st race of the season). At the annual awards banquet, they honor 1st thru 6th for the summer race series, I also had a 4th and 5th place finish. In the Fall series, only 1st thru 3rd are honored at the banquet, best I did in those was a 5th place finish (I did manage one race win in each of the 3 classes I ran in the Fall series - that's a first for me). Tied with my son in one class (we missed one race, so were down in the pack a bit). I finished 7th out of 31 racers in the "stick shift" class, the first full year I've run that class. Most of the other classes had over 100 racers registered for points (the other "small" class had 43 racers going for points).

One of the series is a car club event, and our club repeated as champs.

I won 5 different races - 3 in a points series, two "special event" races (one had a pretty nice pay-out). One of the wins was on the first race day of the season. Other trophies included one runner-up, 5 semi-finals, 2 quarter finals.

I had a perfect light in each car.

Represented the track at the Division 5 ET Finals, and was chosen as the Race of Champions representative in Sportsman. Lost 1st round in Sportsman (again - a 3-peat), but was still in the RoC when they halted the race.

Ran 1/8 mile on two occasions - that was interesting. Won the race the first time (the nice pay-out mentioned above).

I haven't added up the total passes or round wins, but by the end of August I had worn out the new slicks I put on the LS1/4L60E car at the beginning of the season in April, and had to get another set to finish out the season. The new set is already half gone.

It was disappointing to fall short of a season championship (I had a shot in 4 different classes going into the final race of each of those classes). But, overall it was a good season, can't really complain.

That's just crazy and like me, you have a short race season being high up in elevation.

Just for kicks, my first three time slips last Sunday with the stick shift car (particularly the RT's). I'm car # P346. We were running 1/8 mile due to the cold track.

Win trophies in the back, then runner-up, semi-finals, and the two tall ones in front are quarter-finals.

Dust collectors

Did you take a wheel barrel to the banquet?

Should have in '09...

This is just the take-home from the track. The banquet is next month.
