I've seen them run anywhere from 13.9s to 14.2s at IRP. I think the 285hp # is right.

Sparks a flyin'.

nah its only 260-265 stock. somewhere around there. my brother has a 99 gt and i have an 89 iroc with a L98, 1.6 roller rockers, headers, no smog pump, ported plenum, home made ram/cold air, modified m.a.f. sensor, and true duals. needless to say i was able to let off the gas and get back on it to taunt him and still walked all over that rustang destroked five point slow turned into a four point sicks. =)

They are rated conservativly at 260horsepower. However, this is more likely around 280-285 because the consistantly dyno at 245-250.

I don't know about the 2001's but I've beaten a 99 by 1 second and a 2000 by .5 second. I can't see the 2001's being that much faster.

Well, I might race him even though I will lose. I haven't really raced anyone in my car, other than **** cars I knew I could beat. At least I'll know what I can/can't do against one.

Thanks, all.

With your mods you should have 240-255hp. They are rated at 260hp but run the same times as stock LT1s, which are rated at 285. I don't know if they are any lighter than 4thgens, but the 5 speeds are low low 14 second cars. You could pull a low 14 with your car on a cool night.... run him and see how you do.

I don't know who was driving those Mustangs. I have a 2000 Mustang as well as my TA, and with x-pipe w/cats, flowmaster cat-back, and pulleys I was running 13.96. I added 3.73 gears and just ran a 13.68 without speed shifting. Oh, has the BBK cold air induction kit too. Nice to race, but the TA has more promise for the future.

They are rated at 260 HP from the factory and realistically make 220-225 at the rear wheels. The changes to the 01 Mustang are all cosmetic. I've seen times of 13.9-14.2 for a 5 speed and 14.3-14.6 in an automatic.

i am begining to think the 99 and up gt's are a joke every one i race that has one gets a hole in the power at about 30 and 60 and i just fly off of them like they are standing still. and the cobra is worse. I guess those are the shift points for them and they don't know how to drive but those cars are not all that fast. most guys with l98 cars will have fun with those mustangs.

Here's an update for you all.

They're pretty quick. I was following my neighbor home one day. We got on this country road, I would get about 100 yards behind him at about 65mph and he would just dart away, slow down and let me catch up and do it again. I really hated it.

The new improved Mustang GT is pretty close to the stock LT1's. So I guess the Mustang now is only about 7 years behind in the muscle car wars

They are quick but nothing compared to the new F-Bodies being produced nowadays or nothing that a few mods on a 3rd Gen couldn't handle.

Yea I looked at the new T/As tonight. Man they do look pretty sweet too. Have you seen the Navy blue metallic paint job? Wow it looks mean. I think the ram air scoop is just a little high. But other than that it is nice... Still think the 2001 GTs got ya beat tho
