I would watch out for some of those DSM's. Most "ricers" do not have any power at ALL! However, I do believe that AWD turbo eclipses and the supercars(300ZX, supra, rx-7)are the exception. I live here in DFW and i have 4 friends who have bona fide 11 sec. daily driven DSM's. If you street race in dallas you probably seen two of my friends around runnin hard. If you have a 350 and a few bolt ons, you will beat 90% of the imports out there. If you dont, just put a 100 shot on your car. Then you will win99% of the time. Hope that answers your question.

First off, what kind of motor is in your car? If its an LG4 or TBI then you wouldn't of beat a turbo eclipse. Especially since you don't have much done to the motor.
If it was a modified turbo eclipse, forget about it. They run high 14s /low 15s out of the box. With bolt ones and higher boost they can hit high 13s easily. Not trying to bust your *****, but I don't think it was turbo you raced. Probably an imposter

UNLESS...you have an aftermarket motor

Dude, if you beat a turbo eclipse good job! Those suckers are fast, especially from a roll like you said cause they have tons of top end! They can really make some power with simple mods too. That hissing sound was probably a blow off valve, it releases extra pressure from the front side of the turbo. The 2nd Gen body style of eclipse pushes out about 210 HP at the crank at full boost, and they redline at like 7500 or 8000, something crazy. I almost bought a 91 GSX (AWD turbo 5speed) but gota 88 camaro instead. Rock on 3rd Gen!

WELL FORMULA I HAVE A 305TBI MOTOR, IT WAS ALL TRAFFIC PLAY, FROM LIGHT TO LIGHT.. I CONTINUED TO SMOKE HIM LEFT AND RIGHT, I NOT
SAYING THAT I BEAT HIM ON A 1\4MILE RUN,BUT
THE WHOLE TIME WE RACED I WON, DUDE HAD ALL TYPES OF GAUGES IN THE CAR, WE NEVER HAD THE CHANCE TO GO FULL QUARTER, BUT IF WE DID A DEAD STOP TAKE OFF I WOULD FOR SURE GOT 2 CARS ON HIM, EASY!! BUT HE WAS ON MY A** THE WHOLE TIME, IM SURE IF WE DID THE FULL QUARTER HE PROBALY WOULD OF BEAT ME, BUT WIN
IS A WIN.... I DONT BITCH WHEN I GET BEAT BY A HONDA ACCORD BECAUSE I SPIN MY TIRES TOO MUCH. WIN IS A WIN. THE DUDE WAS PISSED WHEN I WON. IVE RACED ECLIPSES AND NOT ONE HAS GIVEN ME COMPITION LIKE THAT ONE.
SO IF HE DIDNT HAVE A TURBO AND A BLOW OFF VALVE, WHATS THE HP AND TQ??

Well thats pretty good. I forgot to take into consideration your 4:10 gears (my stupid mistake, especially since its your name). That's what gave you the advantage. I didnt remember about the blow off valve. Guy brought up a good point. I should of known since I have a blow off valve on my car

By the way, the non turbos are ***** slow. Ive driven one

If you ever line up with a TSI/AWD, you can kiss your @$$ goodbye if he winds it up and launches under boost. They hook like nobody's business. 60' times are phenominal.

well actually hooking underboost is the idea. You'd be surprised though. A guy I know with a 3kGT VR4 used to launch at full boost off the line and he would just bogged out. It's not a "fool proof" launch car, but it does give them the slight advantage on the drag strip.

I had one of these turbo eclipces try to race e on the highway. I was minding my wn business but he kept egging me on, buzzing in my ear like a an anoying mosquito, so when he finally got my attention, I down-shifted into 4th and left him at a steady pace. I let the booger catch-up and line up next to me at about 50mph. I threw it 3rd for a sec and shifted-up.No dice, for him, I mean. He kept racing up on me every time I let off.Basically I took him out like a sucker, blew him away like a chump. Are these mosquitos fast? I guess as Obi Wan said: It all depends on your point of view"

Unless your friend with the 3000gt had a stall converter(which does not exist in ANY street import car) he could not launch under full boost. I own a 90 AWD 5 speed, the best i can launch under is 0 vacuum and 0 boost pressure.

Hurley,

Get yourself the TMO studderbox mod. You can hold 5psi at the start line. Plus when you launch from 5000 RPM or so, boost in nearly instantaneous.
