How big are your stock tires? Of there 245's you can put on 255's for sure, I don't know how much bigger you can go after that.

I know Andris had 275/40R17 tires on 17X9.5" ZR1 wheels up front, and 315/35R17 tires on 17X11' ZR1 wheels in back. They just about line up with the edges of the fenders and look really cool.

geez greg, no wonder you can hook with street tires
i ran 17x9's with 275/40's all the way around for street and autox last year. they fit great. only rub a little bit at full lock.

Would you be able to fit 295's on the 16 x 8 rim? just for the rear

We run 16X12's on the Racecar.
But then we also have a 'wide body kit' on it

Tim, Andris is the one with the big wheels/tires. I have 255/50ZR16's on stock IROC rims, but I was still able to pull 1.9x 60-foot times on nearly bald BF Goodrich Comp T/A ZR's.

I've got 27.5 x 10.5" McCrearys on 15 x 10" rims. They stick out about an inch and a half, but they work. Hook like a bastard too.

17x9.5 with a 5-1/2 backspacing will fit all the way around with a 275/40-R17 tire. 17x11 wheels will not quite fit. To use them you will need to cut and refit part of the rear fender well and eliminate the emergency brake cable. Someone said a 295/50-R16 would fit. No it won't. I had some on my El Camino on a 16x9.5 rim with 5-1/2 backspacing and fit them on the Firebird for fun. Too wide of a tire and too tall.

There's a guy on here with a maroon RS running 17X12's on all four corners, if I remember correctly. Do a search for SEC, that's the kind of rim they are.
