Online petition to increase nhra sportsman coverage on ESPN
Saw this petition while searching on google and thought I would pass it along. I believe with enough support it could make a difference. Here's the link and the second link is the guy who wrote it out I believe.

instead, have nhra use folks like www.motormaniatv.com or www.dragstory.com for the coverage, they seem to care more about the sportsman level racer, and offer free live streams of the racing.

I don't get ESPN or any of it's other channels like ESPN3 etc but everyone in the world could watch streaming coverage. It's hard to provide live coverage for intermittent drag racing action all day long unless it's on a dedicated channel which means a specialty cable/satellite channel. Air time and sponsors couldn't justify the expense.

Actually, I usually do watch streaming coverage from time to time on www.ustream.tv You just need to know how to find the proper channel.

Won't happen.
Hell, they bump the pros for volleyball and golf and other crap. You think they will give sportsmen coverage, when the big guns aren't even getting it?

Anyone remeber when they did a PPV for a national event? I do, we bought it and guess what? It rained!

Nhra could care less about the sportsman racers. They always get the shaft, payout sucks but they still line up to sit and race for 3 days. I don't get it. Prestige is not that big of a deal to me when it's cheaper to race local and win more money.

How much TV time do you want to give to the Biondos and Dan Fletcher? LOL

A lot of those guys are the definition of BADA** sportsman racers...spending 3-4 days at the track and a lot of $$.

But we all know coverage follows $$$$$$$....whenever i race the only coverage is for the x275 and outlaw 10.5 and "pro" classes...the sportsman classes dont get much if any.

Cash is king...and a $50-$75K stocker is never gonna get the airtime. Just my $.02

hey dude, keep in mind, my folks will be at YB Nats again this year, and they will give proper coverage (with live timing and all) to EVERY class, to include 11.50 and brackets, all the way to outlaw drag radial, x275, etc. i believe whole heartedly that my folks are picking up the slack where ESPN is dropping the ball, and i'm 100% OK with that!

yes, i will be there for certain. will probably slow the car way down and run 11.50.

did i read right that they mandate a DOT tire for that class?

Yes...dot tires are required...there are some serious 11.50 racers at cecil...so you may wana practice... LOL
