First Time At The Track
So running my car down the 1/4 for the first time next week. Im hoping to land into the 13's but have a feeling im gonna be in the low 14's.
So my question is should I just go from foot on the brake to gas when the tree drops or you think I should take off at like 2200 rpms? I have a 2300-2500 stall torque converter....
Havent made a pass since my last 3rd gen in 1998. Ran a 15.8 on an 89 L03..
It does 0-60 mph in about 6 seconds, really dont know what to expect.
Mods:
Speed Density L98 - completely rebuilt
52mm Throttle body
Ported Plenum
Ported SLP Runners
TPIS Big Mouth Lower Intake
Crane 2032 Cam
MSD Distributor & Wires
Stock Heads rebuilt
Hooker 2055 Shorty Headers and Y Pipe
Gutted Cat (only because I had an injector get stuck open and melt it)
MagnaFlow 3" Exhaust Cat Back
9 Bolt Borg Warner 3.45 Limited Slip
Welded Alston Sub rame Connectors
Founders Performance Lower Control Arms & Panhard
Timing set at 8* BTDC
So what you guys think 13's?

Re: First Time At The Track
Left foot on the brake, throttle up 'till it strains on the brakes, somewhere around the last orange floor throttle and slip left foot off of brake.
Good luck.
Good luck.

You can try it both ways, or somewhere in between too. Sometimes leaving off idle will do best, by flashing the converter. It all depends on converter and combo. Be sure to report back. My best times were typically done by getting up as hard on the converter as I can go without pushing the car or spinning tires.

Ditto, all my cars from bolt on L98 to 383 on spray, to bolt on ls1 all 60'd best with full footbrake stall til about pushed thru brakes or spun tire. However all combos had same brand converter, Edge racing.
My 6.2l truck feels best brake stalling stock converter to 1800-2000 rpm compared to flashing it. No times to compare but seat of pants feels better

It definitely is 13 sec capable. Getting it there on street tires will be the trick. You may find that it will spin MUCH easier at the track then on the street, and loading the converter may hurt you

Re: First Time At The Track
yeah, the stock heads will hold me back and the extra weight of the vert dont help too. its 0 to 60 is 5.7 to 6.1 secs consistantly.
