Several options, better heads, intake, cam, not sure how much room the exhaust can grow, deeper gear, weight reduction ect.

My 89 with a t5 and 4.10s with a 150k mile stock l98 350 and a carb conversion with hooker full length headers ran 13.87 at 101 mph on a 1.8 60 foot. Plenty to grow with your setup.

Well...weight loss snd more rear gear would be a great start.

Also...even though that cam has a lazy ramp on it, everything being perfect with that setup is should definately go 13s.

Hate to say it...but engine rings may not be sealed. Id do a leakdown test...most people have a lot of lost compression and lose 1/2 the HP.

What MPH? What 60' time? Full weight car? Exhaust setup?

A 600cfm carb would pick it up for sure. I ran mine with a 650 and went 10.20s so trust me...a 600 is more than enough.

Re: 82 Z28 set up track times am I maxed out with this set up?

i picked up .2 going from a 600 double pumper holley to a 650 double pumper. all i did was hang my float bowls and metering blocks on to a 650 main body and base plate and put stock size 650 jets in it per the holley book. this was after spending a ton of time getting the 600 dialed in. this was back when my 305 was still in the car, and i went from 13.20's to 13.00's. i also had a smaller cam than the OP at the time.

sounds like you need to work on 60' time. a set of tires, sfc's, lca relocation brackets, and some time tweaking a proper mechanical secondary carb (throw eldy-broke carb in trash) and i bet it has enough in it to break both the trans and the rearend

Re: 82 Z28 set up track times am I maxed out with this set up?

I think your car is out of perfect tune and probably has one or two major restrictions.

My Camaro when it had a stock 1990 L98 Vette motor ran 13.5 at 102mph with just bolt ons and headers - about 295hp. Your car is making about 215hp the way it is running and should make 290 to 310hp with the right exhaust and dialed in 100%.

Before you change anything major:

1) Make sure the fuel pressure is spot on for your carb all through the rpm range, if not change your pump

2) Make sure the timing curve is set properly

3) Get an A/F ratio meter and tune your carb to 13:1 under full throttle for max power

4) If you have a mechanical engine fan, ditch for a good electric (or two)

the car was pulling threw the stock pump and after that was removed this week it was at 8 lbs so not sure how bad the stock pump knocked down the pressure, and have used mechanical and electrical fans just have electrical now

8 psi is way too high for a carbed setup. 6.5 psi is about perfect typically.
