Re: Video of my first 7 second pass
How many passes do you get on the drag radials before the sidewalls are shot?

Re: Video of my first 7 second pass
I thought you need a LSx motor to go that fast, because sbc are so obsolete. boy was i wrong. congrats on the pass.... hopefully I`ll join the 7 second club too sometime in the near future.

Re: Video of my first 7 second pass
I've put 50+ runs on a set of MT's already. Running 18 pounds of air the sidewalls hold up pretty good. A couple years back I ran the Hoosier DR and they only lasted about 20 before the sidewalls gave up. They are a much thinner, lighter tire.

Re: Video of my first 7 second pass
Blows my mind how unassuming cars look these days and still run 7's and 8's. Congrats man, I love your car. I will only run radials, looks like you it dialed. Are you running the 295 MT's or the radial pro's?

Re: Video of my first 7 second pass
Current heads are a set of all pros.
This pass was on the pro 275 but I normally run on the gen 1 275 since I run the car in ultra street. I've been just as quick to the 1/8 on that tire but never ran a full pass on them. Car should go a bit quicker yet on the pro. That was my first time out on them.

I dont see the big deal in telling. Aint gonna help anyone knowing what casting was used, as he doesnt need to mention who did the work to the port, and no info on the head port design, flows, velocity, etc that would allow someone to duplicate

Obsolete? Not yet. there are so much you can do to a gen 1 SB and the availability of aftermarket parts are so vast that it will take awhile before the good OLD small block disappears.

Congrats, Just got mine in the 7s with 23 degree heads so I have an appreciation for what it takes . I have to say the MT 275 Pros are awesome tires. Wish I would have tried them sooner.

Re: Video of my first 7 second pass
The car is an 89 Trans AM with a F2 400ci sbc with AFR 245 spread port heads. The car has a BS3 with 160 lb bosch injectors with a TH400 with a 2.10 first gear and a 3.50 rear gear . It runs best on the 275 pro radials . Car at 3500+ has run 7.98 @ 178 with a 1.26 60ft . It has more in it as it is slow first half of the track 5.20s @ 141mph. Have not tried giving more power out of the hole with the radials yet .
Here is the dyno session for the engine.
Here is the car running at the track . It is a work in progress.

I will be heading in this direction but with a blow thru carb. Right now it's N/A with 13:1 compression, I am going to enjoy it like this for a few years and when it's time to freshen up the engine drop in lower compression pistons and upgrade to a pro-charger. but at that point I will need to modify my 6 point cage to a 10 point and add a 'chute.

Very nice ...did ASSC do your pro-charger install?

Re: Video of my first 7 second pass
I bought the supercharger and BS3 from ASSC and the engine fabrication was done by Roman Perfromance & Fabrication in Addison Il. When you are ready to convert it over hit me up and I will try and save you some mistakes that are common . I made them and if I can steer someone away from repeating what I have learned that is what I try and do. Usually money is tight with these projects and doing stuff twice is a B****.
Larry did give me some heads up: for example the crank will need to be changed to a big block snout to keep that from shearing off.
Did he steer you to the BS3 system? I know it must be easier to tune with the laptop and you probably drive it on the street, but a blow thru carb seems cheaper, simpler, easier for a drag strip only car.
like you said these power adders get expensive but it will be more economical for me to go this route then start from scratch with a BBC.. to make 1000+ HP N/A
sorry for hijacking OPs thread !

Thanks, I will keep this in mind and be sure to let you know when I am ready to convert it.

Re: Video of my first 7 second pass
Yep, Dons car was awesome and I am sure his new one will be even better. Don helped me a ton trying to get my car sorted out. He is a stand up guy. And you are correct Jeffs car Rocks!! I am sure I could learn a thing or two on getting my car to leave better from him . Not a suspension guy more of an engine guy so getting my car to work has been challenging to say the least.

ogie, i remember you now from the bullet. very badass ride. i am trying to finish up a friends ysi equipped LT1 car. hoping it winds up somewhere in the 8's. (388ci, th400, 3.73, 28x10.5's) may have to borrow some of your advice on running a blower car soon.
i enjoy reading the moyer/vader/don b updates, so be sure to keep posting them up!
