a long overdue update

there was a time when i lived on forums. Social media has all but replaced it with it's fast pace and broad reach, but the fact is, forums have a great ability to archive events. I just looked through a thread i started 3 years ago, just because i could

but who cares about that? this is a post in the track talk section with the title "a long overdue update"! that means i have track results to share, right?

well 2018 wasn't an easy year and I was only able to get to the track 3 times. i'll give an overview real fast. you're welcome to ask anything but i won't bore you with the details:
-late september 2017 i transitioned to a chassis shop in Pottstown PA and worked towards selling the house in MD to move the fam
-i worked tirelessly on getting the house sold and buying something new but that never manifested
-may 2018 i had an accident in the shop, nearly losing a finger, and ultimately did lose my position there
-august 2018 i'm back at AGCO some 3 years after leaving and happier than ever to be back in the ag industry

like i said, we raced 3 times this year. ultimately after working through clutch tune and some fueling issues, i made a new personal best of a 9.54 @ 143 mph, with a monster wheelie and was all over the racetrack. check out the vids and couple pics i have. in the mean time, we are committed to making 2019 our best yet and have already teamed up with 2 new sponsors and have a full 12 race schedule, including drag week!

I wish you guys a very Merry Christmas 2018 and an incredible New Year 2019!

I had been wondering about the car. wasn't sure if you ran drag week this year, but it seems you didn't have time for it. drag week this year will be in our area so I am glad you are participating. I'll go spectate at ATCO.

car looks good and sounds great. congrats on the new best time. you think you will ever put a front chin spoiler on the car or just leave it with the nose piece only?

Re: a long overdue update

it will never get an OE chin spoiler and z28 style bumper cover.

that said, i have given aerodynamics a lot of thought lately and have been contemplating fabbing up something, if i could get it to look right and make it light enough.

Some video is better than none at all. I thought my in car videos were bad. The cell phone video was worse. tell the guys to use a steady cam

Still, you got more track time than I did.

Re: a long overdue update

yeah i could use a better videographer, but i don't pay real well, lol.

more updates, more weight loss ideas. 2 years ago when i put the wheelie bars on, they smacked the bottom of the t-top well. i cut it out, then put a real crude aluminum cover over the top. it was a mess, and didn't seal real well, so i knew i wanted to fix that. i also had built a really stout, but really way too heavy bolt-on parachute mount. i've since taken that off and rebuilt it. since this mount also doubles as a hitch, i made it fairly stout, but used 4130 chromoly for the weight savings.

after i recut the rest of the well out:

pushed the front wall forward some. since i cut off the area that holds the straps for the fuel tank, i have to put a fuel cell in (or reinvent the wheel on new mounts for those straps, not really excited about that since the tank is largely in the way of the wheelie bars) anyway, this will make for a couple inches extra room for the new cell.

new billet battery mount from ICT Billet (i sell these btw). super duper nice and not too spendy!

and here we have the new hitch/chute mount assembly.

that's all for now. i'm currently working on fuel cell mounting and fuel line routing. additionally, i'm still on the fence about building a box around all this, or making a bulkhead/firewall. i'll keep ya posted on that
