Engine diaper

I am looking to throw a diaper on my car. I have hedman long tube headers, along with a umi k member. I got on DRE's website, and it says they are closed due to covid. So, are there any decent substitutes? I was thinking about getting one of the summit racing brands and see how that fit.

Re: Engine diaper

I was never able to get a diaper to fit on my car. With the BBC and large tube headers, there just wasn't enough room to fit the diaper. I fabricated a removable belly pan instead and it works very will. NHRA specs are minimum requirement with 2" sides. I made 6" sides so that it goes all the way around the sump. The last engine I exploded was all contained in the belly pan. Even had part of a con rod that went out the oil pan.You line the belly pan with spill sheets and put a mesh over them to keep them in place.

As for diaper sources, Jegs and Summet

Re: Engine diaper

I have the DRE that is in the picture on their site. I have Hooker Super Comp headers and it is tight on the drivers side between the header and the block. I've had the diaper on for years and it did burn the outer Kevlar. I sent it back to DRE this past winter and he sewed a patch in and I'm back in business. Don't know about his Covid deal but he's great to work with and excellent service.

Re: Engine diaper

DRE here. Gave him the pan part number and he took it from there. Racecraft K-member and it fits great.

Perhaps give DRE a few weeks to see if they open back up or not? I dont know of anyone else with a diaper other than DRE.
