after taking delivery of the car i found out it is actually a 85 z28 with 87 iroc engine, trans, rear axle, and hood

it was originally a tpi 305 but had a 87 iroc tpi 350 installed.

basically an iroc clone

Re: new

Not too many differences between a 85 Z28 and a 87 IROC mechanically, so that isn't so bad.

Re: new

It could, it was a separate option. If you have the RPO codes in the center console, look for G80. However, by now the stock posi is probably dead anyway.

Re: new

Best way to find those RPOs is to do a search of this site with the term RPO and then the RPO code. Most likely it's been asked before.

MD8 is part of the 4 speed automatic transmission package, as I recall there are a couple RPOs associated with having it.

Re: new

ok, btw no g80 rpo code, however i was recently told by the previous owner that the rear axle MIGHT have been replaced with one from a iroc z, unconfirmed as of yet\

filled in the gaps in my rpo code list, thank you.

Re: new

after doing a Ghetto posi test (lift up the rear and turn the tires to see if they turn the same direction) in the rain, both tires turn the same direction (in contrast to my truck which is as open as it gets), i have not yet got the axle code but if it truly is a posi and not a fluke test then its obviously either replaced or modified since there is no g80 rpo code to signify it being a positraction equiped car, however im sure it is a pre-87 axle because it has 10 bolts on the cover rather than the 9 that was on the bw 7.75" axle in the 87- iroc z

Re: new

i just got the engine for that car, im not sure what it is yet

the casting number is 3956618
the suffix code is V0312HN
the Vin number is 19L044232
the date code is C 6 9 (behind the distributor, the only other numbers i can find on the engine)

if you can help me figure out what this is i would appreciate that

Re: new

so far best guess is 350 non-roller, built march 12 in either 1969 or 1979 (1989 would likely be a roller block and have the fuel pump provision filled in)
