Hey QwkTrip...
Hey QwkTrip...
Well, you know how we were discussing how your blower and aircleaner were going to fit under your hood. I got thinking about hoods I have seen on 'birds, and I think that this one from (I think) US Body Source would look real good on your car without destroying the clean lines, and it may have enough clearance for you. I don't know if you've followed any of these threads, but here is a pic of it:
and here is the thread where I got it.
ASCD also makes a ram-air hood, but I personally like the looks of this one better.

Yeah, that hood is awesome looking, Ive been planning on getting it since I checked out GTA autos site, and asked about the 4th gen spoiler, and he sent me a pic of the hood on accident! I think he said it would be around 550-600 total.. Im hoping to have that before August, and I have a good friend with a body shop, so I can get it painted for cheap!

Yes, I've seen that before. I followed that thread too. I looked at it once but then I noticed the center of the hood has a dip in it. It seems to be for looks only and not for function. But thanks for thinkin' of me!

That hood was made by US-Body Source, the other hood is being made by GTAuto Source. The wing is a real 4th gen wing fitted on there, which was a total PITA. The GTAuto wing is a 4th gen wing redesigned to fit a 3rd gen, but they modded a 4th gen wing to make it fit a 3rd gen.
Personally I find that hood ugly. Its wayyy too big. I've seen it on many Firebirds and it looks good on very few. Looks expecially bad on 91/92s because of their sleak front end and then two huge bulges. It looks the absolute worst on a Camaro, though. Saw a guy that had it and about all I could do was laugh at it... looks so out of place.
Originally I did like it, when I first saw only the hood, then I started seeing it on Cars and it just looks worse and worse... it looks best on his car unpainted because it makes it look a lot more subtle... and you guys know I don't go for subtle...

Its definately going to take something at least that big to work on Jon's bird. It wouldn't be cheap to have the center dip cut out and a small one put in by someone who does 'glass work, but then not much is cheap on your bird is it Jon? I think that a small dip (maybe 1/4")would still keep the killer looks of the hood while making it much more functional.

Lance, I think you're right about the 1/4 dip. That would still maintain the style. I haven't measured how much clearance I need yet but I'm going to guess 5". What do you think Lance?
