My advice... have Joe drop you off infront of the school in his car the first morning a little early so EVERYONE is there to see. Cars impress High Schoolers a lot... that is how I got in with the Upperclass, had my dad drop me off in the 3000 GT VR4 and suddenly everyone was my friend.

Lets see hmmm..... 1975 was when I first entered H.S.
This should be boring so read this if you need to sleep
PC's:
1975 - MITS ships one of the first PCs, the Altair 8800 with one kilobyte (KB) of memory, as a $397 mail-order kit. Many where bought sight unseen and had to be put together. There was no guarantee that it would work properly. It was programmed by switches.
Edward Roberts and his company MITS are said to have coined the term "personal computer."
Paul Allen and Bill Gates write the first computer language program for personal computers, which was a copy of BASIC, and was designed for the Altair. Bill Gates drops out of Harvard and founds Microsoft with Paul Allen.
The Byte Shop, one of the first computer stores, opens in California. About two years later, owner Paul Terrell will sell a chain of 74 Byte Shops for $4 million.
U.S. air traffic control is fully computerized.
Space:
July
The United States and the Soviet Union team up to launch the first international manned space mission. The mission goes under the name of the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project.
August
The U.S. launches "Viking I", a space probe bound for Mars. "Viking I" landed on Mars in July, 1976 and remained there for over six years. The unmanned probe transmitted pictures of the planet's surface and conducted research.
Some of the crap that was on TV:
http://www.super70s.com/Super70s/TV/1974-75.asp
The music of the time:
http://www.super70s.com/Super70s/Music/1975/
Anyway enough of that stuff !
HS will be the best time of your life!
Although being popular and impressing your friends is part of the program, just being yourself is most important. A "what you see is what you get" attitude tells people that you are who you are and there are no false pretenses or phoney fronts.
Of course there will be the groups: Sportos, motorheads, geeks, jocks,*****, pinheads, dweebies, richies, stoners, wastoids, gothmos, the haves and the have nots.
If your looking into college, getting good grades helps so study hard ! Although its hard to think about, academics are more impotant than the social aspects of HS
That does not mean become a bookworm but just remember why you are there and thats to learn.
Looking back on HS I had fun! I still remember my last football game, the parties and the friends. I did not go to college though even though I had a free ticket to, thats where I messed up. It took years of hard work to make up for that mistake !
I have signed up with a school though and I will be getting an Engineering degree soon, 20 years late !
Sorry for the long post but I hope you get something out of it
Don

Good luck, but having met you I think you'll do just fine.
Study hard and remember that doing good in high school can help open up every other door to what ever you wish to make of your life in the future. While the social aspect of high school can be almost as important as your studies, you need to find a balance. Have fun, but don't party your school years away while blowing off your classes. Do as many extracirricular activities as you can comfortably fit into your schedule, but don't let them overwelm you. Many of the best colleges look at your extracirricular activities during the admissions process.
Hopefully you are enough years behind Joe that no one will hold that against you...
