Pulling from an unmodified Memcal...

How can I use my pocket programmer to pull the info off of my stock prom still in the memcal. I am under the impression I can do this, and then simply use one of several piggybacks (like a hypertech) I have to just bypass the stock chip. I need the info for tunercat first though. Any help?

Read through Traxion's Prom Burning Intro. He gives you all Digikey's part#'s to order the pieces you need. Then modify them as he did by reading what he wrote and looking at the pictures.

I recently did that and it was extremely easy to do and works great. I just cut and pasted the part#'s listed into Digikey's website order form. You don't even need a cutoff wheel to modify that blue piece with the pins. You can pull out the pins you don't need with a pair of needle nose pliers. I then cut the blue plastic down with a small coping saw. Easy as 1,2,3.

This may not be the best advice for the uncautious, but it will get you out of a jam.

I had the same problem. I have a piggy-back for the new chips but like you needed the info from the stock memcal. I drove around for a day and could not find a header so I improvised.

I used "T" pins. I just cut the tops off and put a slight bend in them to fit. BE VERY CAREFUL not to let the pins touch. I used this for two different memcals while waiting for the header I ordered to show up, and it worked great.

Have you tried an ECM dump in-situ with my program? Might work for you, might not with the SLP/TPIS type stuff, don't know. Could be worth a try if you're set up for it.
