Fuel Filter, should it be left to professionals

I need to get this done, and it doesnt look that tough. Although there is gas involved so I am hesitent to do it myself. Any ideas on this? People that have done this, how tough is it really?

Thanks,
Jay

i have a TBI, i have done mine a couple of times, it is very easy. just remeber shut off the fuel pump (i don't remeber all the steps, if you have a haynes or chitins it will have instructions) and get a little tub to collect the gas that will drip out of the lines(this won't be very much at all) and don't smoke while you do it.

Yeah what they said.... I changed it my V6 not that hard to do. Gas just feels funny when its on your skin is all... Am I the only one who thinks Dewey's sig looks like a wicked launch, starting to lift the fronts?

I've done mine too.. easy.. though Shutting off the fuel pump dosn't matter. since it is off when your car is sitting there.. First vent the fuel tank, and once you are under there follow the metal line from the filter up towards the tank till it goes to a rubber hose. and with a pair of vice grips lightly pinch the line, be sure to put a rag around the hose (so the vice grip edges don't dig into the line). Then take the filter off. Have a pan under where you are working, since there will be some fuel coming out of the line that is between the filter & vice grips.. Then tighten the new filter on, and take the vice grips off.. and your done.. pretty simple..

Do you guys clamp the fuel line and then let the car run out of fuel? (emptying the remainer of the lines)
Is this potentially bod for the vehicle?

Hey TPI guys, the TBI fuel filter is not in the same place. Ours' is rearward of the driver floorpan.

Adam89F, you don't run the car when you clamp the fuel line.. leave it off.. I never had a problem, once I was done putting the filter on, I just turn the key to start the fuel pump on, wait a bit then start the car.. I had changed the fuel filter on a 2.8L TPI Firebird, and the filter was in the same place as my RS.
