It's ALIVE!

Yay! I got the transmission hooked up, it was the stipid blankity-blank cable that had been disconnected. I had spare nuts laying around so that was easy. I got the gray carpet in (mostly) and the whole rear end of the interior secured properly. Headliner is trash, though. I bolted the driver's seat down real good, along with the seatbelt (gotta be safe, after all) and plugged the Camaro pod into the speedo cable and off we went, my wife's car following me the whole time. THe pod isn't hooked up in terms of any other gages or lights, and I have the wiring harness zip-tied out of the way of my feet so I don't rip a wire or something out of the harness. Car ran okay, I got up Kunia road without incident, and the speedo even reads properly - when I had enough ambient light to read it with, that is. I'm going to finish up the interior this coming weekend, including the dash, if I can manage it. Speaking of which, I need a new top dash pad - I threw away the one I was supposed to use. If it's cracked or whatever, I don't care, I'll use it, as long as it works.

I guess I had a battery drain going on, becasue the car was pretty dead until I let it run for a good half-hour Saturday. Sitting around not doing anything wasn't too good for the battery, I figure.

I have mint-condition '91 Firebird dash pad I won't be using.

Oooh, really, Duck? I'll need to tell the wife that, and maybe I'll take it off your hands for a nominal price? I have no idea what a dash pad is worth, by the way.

Because it is like new, to me it's worth $50. Heh, it is so good I bought it from a wrecked FB even though all I do is Camaro-stuff, but I couldn't resist, knowing that some FB enthusiast will want it. Auctions for dash pads typically go for more plus extra for shipping and no guarantee it won't get busted during delivery.

Normally I'm a cash-guy, but you're SO persuasive.

Come on over pick it up and watch the "LeMans" final ten minute Porsche-Ferrari neck-to-neck finish in 16x9. It's impressive.

PM me your info and I'll be able to stop by maybe friday during the day, doesn't matter what time, I'll have the day off and you might see this beater before I sell it. That, or the GTA, depends what I'm driving.

If I recall correctly, there were two or three different dash pads throughout the years. That is the later/last style, but I'm fairly certain they'll all fit without problems.

If you have camaro stuff in there then it might fit exactly the same... or it might take a little convincing. But either way, you can't go wrong for $50.

Since you live in Wahiawa and I work at Bld 580 at Schofield B, stop by around noon and pick it up in the parking lot. My work phone is 655-4376, ask for Ed. If that's no good, I can go for lunch in Wahiawa. Let me know for sure so I don't lug the pad around unnecessarily. Easy, huh?
